Liton against average bowlers will do well. However on swinging tracks and against decent pacers, his lack of footwork is exposed. Yes he will disappoint on many occasions but he stays as hopefully he learns.

Even if Imrul averages 200, the selectors will still drop him. So might as well stick with Liton for the time being.

Liton has the spark, right now Bangladesh needs that. One exceptional innings can mean a game won.

Whenever Ash clicked, we generally won a match. Liton yet to play an impact innings like that (he came close against India, but at the end did not play long enough to help the team post a substantial total).

To win a match others also need to contribute , if Australia had scored 300-350 in 2005 Cardiff do you think we would have won that match even with that Ash century? It only looks like an impact innings because our bowlers did well in restricting them in first place and Aftab/Bashar also assisted

Yes its a disappointing series for him. And yes there is a chance he will be dropped and nobody but himself to blame. But in long term, he is still a great talent, hopefully he doesn't waste his chances anymore. There few young players who really are fun to watch when they click: and they are SS, Sabbir and Litton. If all three would click at the same time, the team would be dynamite.

He is starting to look a lot like Ashraful, once in a blue moon innings. Looks great when on song, other times, less said the better.

This ODI series, everybody failed from Tamim to Rahim to Riyad, as well as SS and Litton. So I am not going to blame too much on Litton ONLY. it was a difficult series, specially when you are opening.
But time is running out for Litton, I hope he understand that and try to make the best in TEST (if he gets an opportunity).

Liton has about 25 odd international ODI matches under his name. Only has 1 century and 1 50 to show. Avg is around 20 ish. Gets out very early majority of the time. Hell even miraz at this point would make a better opener. He has been doing quite crappy even back in BD aswell.

up.
I haven't watched much cricket recently other than India's matches. which is how I got to watch this match in the asia cup. http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8...-asia-cup-2018
he was simply superb against a full strength Indian attack and seemed to be playing a different match from his teammates. I was surprised he wasn't starting for BD in this world cup.
good start to his WC career. congrats !

Did play some weird shots and there was some shoddy bowling. But like I said much better than Mutton!

He has been dominating the domestic scene for a while now. Comparing his numbers he deserved the spot. Give him chances like Soumya. He might deliver too in the Odis just like he did in the t20s. He and Soumya are modern day batsmen who loves to take on the attack without shying away. You need all sorts of player in the team.

Mithun is a good batsmen. But Liton has a better domestic record. I mean not even close, number of centuries and conversion or strike rate.

Didnt think he deserved the WC spot with n average under 20. But he turned it around very well. Todays innings was a treat to watch. With his technique, I think he is better suited for the middle order. Hope this wasnt a fluke and he builds on todays performance.

Still needs to work on control of his shots. But he is already good enough to kick both Mithun and Sabbir out of the team.
Hopefully his performances will also encourage selectors to value domestic performers better.

He is a momentum batsman. He starts shaky but once he get set, he hits pretty well. In batting friendly wickets we can afford to play players like him.
