BPL 2 from Jan 17!
Dhaka, June 4 (bdnews24.com)—All is set for the second Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to roll onto the ground from Jan 17 if Bangladesh Cricket Board allows.
The date for start of the second edition of the Twenty20 cricket was twitted on Monday on the BPL's official twitter account.
"We want to start the second BPL from mid January," said BPL Governing Council Member Secretary Mohammad Alamgir.
"The Governing Council considers the time to be perfect for beginning with the game. It is still a proposal. It will require permission from Bangladesh Cricket Board," he added.
The first BPL was held in Dhaka and Chittagong last February. Dhaka Gladiators won the title for which six teams had fought.
Alamgir said preparation for the second edition was being taken beforehand for avoiding the flaws reported during the first tournament.

^Good news. They should pay the players in time. Let's see how many of the "big names" come for the auction....

Hope they learnt from their mistakes and make it a bigger one this time around.
I want home and away system but looking at stadiums, it may not be possible this time. However, i want least 4-5 venues (Dhaka, Ctg, Bogra, Sylhet, Khulna) for BPL 2.

I am looking forward to see how many quality foreign players BPL can pull next year. Would love to see some Indian players playing next year. Go BPL.

When/where did the BCB say that the franchises had paid all of their dues? I hadn't come across any such announcement...

Well as per this Pakistani source 2nd June, M. Kamal seek apology for delay and stated,
Quote:
“To my knowledge, players and staff have been paid but there are some payments still outstanding. If any players or coaching staff have not been paid then they need to contact the organisers as soon as possible. The fact is that we have held such a tournament for the first time and the delays have been due to the required clearance from the Government, primarily due to 2 reasons. The first is one is the fact that these are foreign currency payments for which special clearance is required. The other reason is that there are tax considerations for all international players involved in BPL"
"I apologize for any delays due to some issues but looking to the next edition of the BPL, it’s the BCB that will sign the contracts with players directly and the payments will be made promptly on the due date without a problem.”

Afterall,it's a agood news. Though first time they make problem to pay the player, BCB should learn a lesson from that and take necessary steps for next season.

crazy how much talent SA have atm. a pacer with an FC average of 20 and strike rate of 40 after 59 matches and 228 wickets can't get a gig in the national side, not even in the squad.

Higher scale for foreigh players again. This self inflicted inferiority complex should go. I understand that local players might not be worth more than foreigners on average. But let the freakin market/ aution decide that. What's the point of an auction then? Only in Bangladesh do you racism on its own people!
We should write a petition to BCB to get rid of this two scale system for foreigners and locals. It an be demoralizing for local players.

Not a bad idea. More teams=more deshi players in action
