ভিসা ফরম জমা দিতে বোর্ডে গিয়ে সেটা ছিঁড়েই ফেললেন তামিম ইকবাল! রেগেমেগে বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি) অফিস থেকে বেরিয়ে চলে গেলেন বাসায়। যাওয়ার সময় কোচ জেমি সিডন্সকে বলে গেলেন, হাতে ব্যথা নিয়ে তাঁর পক্ষে অনুশীলন করা সম্ভব নয়।
হাতের চিকিৎসা করাতে তামিমকে অস্ট্রেলিয়া পাঠানোর সিদ্ধান্ত পরশু বোর্ড সভাতেই আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে নেওয়া হয়েছে। সে অনুযায়ী তাঁর ভিসা-প্রক্রিয়াও শুরু হয়ে যাওয়ার কথা ছিল গতকাল। কিন্তু ভিসা ফরম পূরণ করে কাল দুপুরে সেটা জমা দিতে তামিম সহকারী ক্রিকেট অপারেশন্স ম্যানেজারের কাছে যাওয়ার পরই লাগে গোলমাল। বোর্ড সূত্রে জানা গেছে, অস্ট্রেলিয়া সফরের জন্য বিমানভাড়া, থাকা-খাওয়া ও চিকিৎসা খরচসহ মোট সাড়ে ৩ লাখ টাকার বাজেট বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে তামিমের জন্য। কিন্তু তামিম এতে সন্তুষ্ট হতে পারেননি। বিমানভাড়া দেওয়ার পর এত ‘অল্প টাকায়’ চিকিৎসা করিয়ে আসা সম্ভব নয় বলে মনে করছেন তিনি। বোর্ড বিমানের ইকোনমি ক্লাসের টিকিট ধরে বাজেট করলেও তামিম চাইছেন বিজনেস ক্লাসে যেতে এবং সে অনুযায়ী বাজেট বাড়াতে। এ নিয়ে সহকারী ক্রিকেট অপারেশন্স ম্যানেজারের সঙ্গে কথা-কাটাকাটির একপর্যায়ে জাতীয় দলের ওপেনার রেগেমেগে ভিসা ফরম ছিঁড়ে ফেলে তাঁর রুম থেকে বেরিয়ে আসেন।
সূত্র জানিয়েছে, তামিম পরে বিষয়টা নিয়ে বিসিবির ভারপ্রাপ্ত প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা নিজামউদ্দিন চৌধুরীর সঙ্গে আলোচনা করেন। ক্ষুব্ধ তামিম তাঁকে জানিয়ে দেন, প্রয়োজনে ছুটি নিয়ে নিজের টাকায় অস্ট্রেলিয়া গিয়ে চিকিৎসা করাবেন, তবু এত অল্প টাকা নেবেন না। তিনি ভারপ্রাপ্ত প্রধান নির্বাহীকে তাঁর ছুটির ব্যবস্থা করার অনুরোধ করেন। নিজামউদ্দিন চৌধুরী বিষয়টা দেখবেন আশ্বাস দিয়ে ভিসা-প্রক্রিয়াটা সেরে ফেলতে বলেন। কিন্তু তামিম নিজের অবস্থানে অটল থাকেন। তামিমের ঘনিষ্ঠ একটি সূত্র জানিয়েছে, হাতের ইনজুরি থেকে পুরোপুরি সেরে না উঠলে প্র্যাকটিস করে তিনি আর ঝুঁকি বাড়াতে চান না। অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় গেলে চিকিৎসক যদি বলেন, হাতে অস্ত্রোপচার করালে সমস্যা পুরোপুরি দূর হয়ে যাবে এবং অস্ত্রোপচারের মাস দুয়েকের মধ্যে সুস্থ হয়ে উঠবেন, তাহলে অস্ত্রোপচার করিয়েই দেশে ফিরবেন তিনি।
এ ব্যাপারে টেলিফোনে তামিম ইকবালের বক্তব্য জানতে চাইলে তিনি কোনো মন্তব্য করতে রাজি হননি। কাল অনুশীলন না করার কারণ হিসেবে বলেছেন, ‘শরীর খারাপ ছিল তাই কোচকে জানিয়ে বাসায় চলে এসেছি। শরীর ভালো থাকলে কাল (আজ) প্র্যাকটিসে যাব।’ কোনো মন্তব্য করতে রাজি হননি সহকারী ক্রিকেট অপারেশন্স ম্যানেজার শরিফুল ইসলামও। বিসিবির ভারপ্রাপ্ত প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা নিজামউদ্দিন চৌধুরী অবশ্য ঘটনার সত্যতা স্বীকার করে বলেছেন, ‘বোর্ডের নীতিমালা অনুযায়ীই আমরা তামিমের অস্ট্রেলিয়া যাওয়ার বাজেট এবং অন্যান্য বিষয় ঠিক করছি। তবে তামিমের কিছু ব্যাপারে আপত্তি আছে। আমি এ বিষয়ে বোর্ডকে জানাব এবং বোর্ডই এ ব্যাপারে চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেবে।’ তামিমকে বোঝাতে ভারপ্রাপ্ত প্রধান নির্বাহীর পক্ষ থেকে অনুরোধ করা হয়েছে তামিমের চাচা ও নির্বাচক কমিটির সদস্য আকরাম খানকে।
জানা গেছে, বোর্ডের নীতিমালা অনুযায়ী চিকিৎসার জন্য বিদেশে গেলে শুধু জাতীয় দলের অধিনায়কেরই পাওয়ার কথা বিমানের বিজনেস ক্লাসের সুবিধা। অন্য ক্রিকেটারদের ক্ষেত্রে ইকোনমি ক্লাসে ভ্রমণের নিয়ম। বোর্ডের ক্রিকেট পরিচালনা বিভাগও সে অনুযায়ী ইকোনমি ক্লাসে তামিমের অস্ট্রেলিয়া সফরের ব্যবস্থা করেছে। তা ছাড়া চিকিৎসার জন্য ক্রিকেটারদের প্রায়ই বিদেশে পাঠায় বোর্ড। একজনকে বাড়তি সুবিধা দিলে পরে অন্যরাও একই রকম দাবি তুলতে পারে।
ওদিকে পায়ের চোটের চিকিৎসার জন্য শাহাদাত হোসেনেরও বিদেশ যাওয়ার কথা শোনা যাচ্ছে। যদিও বিসিবির ভারপ্রাপ্ত নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা বলেছেন, শাহাদাতের ইনজুরির ব্যাপারে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে তিনি কিছু জানেন না। তাঁকে বিদেশে পাঠানোর ব্যাপারেও কোনো আলোচনা নেই বোর্ডে। তবে ইনজুরির ধরন দেখে ফিজিও যদি শাহাদাতকে বিদেশে পাঠাতে বলেন, তাহলে বোর্ড ব্যবস্থা নেবে। ক্রিকেটারদের চিকিৎসার ক্ষেত্রে ফিজিওর পরামর্শ অনুসরণ করে বোর্ড সম্ভাব্য সেরা চিকিৎসারই ব্যবস্থা করে বলে জানিয়েছেন তিনি।
শাহাদাতের পায়ের সমস্যা বছরের শুরুতে ভারতের বিপক্ষে সিরিজ থেকেই শুরু। একটু জোরে বল করতে গেলেই ডেলিভারি দেওয়ার সময় ডান পায়ের কনিষ্ঠ আঙুলের নিচে ব্যথা হয়। ছোট একটা লিগামেন্ট ছিঁড়ে যাওয়াতেই নাকি এই সমস্যা। বিসিবির চিকিৎসক দেবাশীষ চৌধুরী তার পরও বলেছেন, চিকিৎসার জন্য শাহাদাতকে বিদেশে পাঠানোর আপাতত কোনো চিন্তা নেই, ‘শাহাদাতের ব্যাপারে আমরা তাড়াহুড়ো করতে চাচ্ছি না। কাল (আজ) আরেকটা ইনজেকশন দেওয়া হবে তাকে। এরপর এক সপ্তাহ বিশ্রাম, বলও করতে পারবে না আপাতত। ওর জন্য বিশেষ বোলিং বুটের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে। এর পরও যদি সমস্যার সমাধান না হয়, তখন বিদেশে পাঠানোর চিন্তাভাবনা হতে পারে।’

Only thing I can wish BCB handling this little Ganstar with good brain. WorldCup is knocking the door, I dont want to let any kind of distraction to our key players. BCB should act intelligently and find another way to keep both Tamim and equality happy.

So let me get this right...BCB can pay 7,560,000 to Lance Klusener every year apart from all the other amenities that come with it, and not bump Tamim's class up a bit and pay more for the tratment?

I don't see much wrong in Tamim getting this mad over the matter. Every other country (that can afford it) has their players flying Business Class all the time...and this is just one player, one VERY IMPORTANT PLAYER WHO NEEDS HIS ALL IMPORTANT HAND CHECKED UP AND WORKED UPON!

If we lose Tamim before the World Cup because of this cheap mentality from BCB, who else do we have to fill his gap for now and the future? NO ONE!

Business class fares are usually 2.5 times more than economy. I am assuming additional 2 lakh taka. This is what the T20 champion team, yes the entire champion team got for winning the championship. You can arrange a mini national school championship with that money.

If Tamim wants business class, he should pay for the fare difference. He is our best player, but not above code of conduct for national players.
BCB paying 3.5 lakh taka for this trip! It's a lot of money, have some shame as 50% bangladeshis dont have money to buy 3 meals a day!

here is my 5 cents.

Tamim was on vacation for last month or so before the start of hardcore practice. I was upset at it to start with that he didn't pay attention to injury before. If he really was concerned of his well being, he should've put more effort into going to Australia right after UK trip. Now that coaches are talking about serious preperation for world cup... TIK decides to cry about going to Australia. Not only that, he also misbehaves like this. Unacceptable.

Tamim is still very young, and if BCB agrees to meet his demand now, he'll surely take it one notch up next time (maybe demand a tax-free import of a luxury car, right before going out to bat before a WC match )

But taking pride that you are better than the rest and should be treated as the best is wrong. Tamim is indeed a great player for BD team. This attitude and arrogance might lead to his downfall. Not sure whether the 'business class' is the only issue here. I do not believe these journalists nowadays. But if it is, then Tamim is arguing for a wrong demand. What if tomorrow another player like Nayeem/Jahurul demands for business class as well? They are also same as Tamim is, national players. As BCB's policy is to provide business class to only the captain, then Tamim should abide by the policy and pay the extra money himself.

Tamim should be traveling business class. He is too famous to be getting stuck next to two 'bangali fans' on the WHOLE FLIGHT. It is an inconvenience.

But I agree - if BCB's policy is to give only economy fair to all players then Tamim gotta pay the rest out of his pocket. Tamim has more than enough money to be traveling in business class on his own. BCB doesn't have to carry the tab for his $2000 underwear just because the undies feel better when he bats.
