so close... yet so far away....
this is probably the best test innings inzamam played throughout his career... i dont think he will ever admit it, atleast now... 10 yrs down when we are a competitive team, he will admit it.... inzamam single handedly saved their blushes!!!!...

the most disappointing thing is before this match inzamam has been going through the worst phase of his career... he was almost on the verge of getting kicked out of the team....

ever realized how we have helped to revive careers of so many players???.... inzamam, gillespie, and so many more...

If BBC reports dont include any thing about the very poor umpiring in the match then i really have to say the reports has been biased towards stronger side. Any one who followed the entire game can see that the umpiring was too poor in that match and intentionally biased towards Pakistani team. Ashoka De Silva refused a quite number of good LBW shouts in favour of Pakis in the last innings.

forget about bad umpiring... think about pakistan cheating... Rashid Latif picked up the ball from the ground and appealed for Alok's wicket, and he was given...

no one remembers that... that is what wrong with close deafeat....

laugh and roll as much as you wish. Many Pakistanis cry foul on pitch tampering against Ireland. I hope you are not one of them. In the BBC reports there is nothing to support that. Feels good doesn't it?

By the way, I don't know what is the motive of these type of threads. If someone visits the match archives I am sure they can find out what went on in that test.

Well, if BBC's report fails to mention about bad umpiring then it does not mean that there was no bad umpiring. When Pakistan loses there is always something... (remember our first win over them in WC). By the way, where can I get hightligts of this test match?

I must admit my own mistake, I was also enlisted among those who believe that we lost the match because of d. Silva, however, now I believe that we lost the match because all the players in our team did not believe in themselves in winning the match. Even if we do not consider the 'not outs' that were really 'outs' or 'outs' that were really 'not outs', we dropped too many catches and gave them too many opportunities to get away.

Therefore, we only have ourselves to blame for losing the match, not Inzamam, not poor umpiring of Ashoka De Silva.

We lost that test because of several reasons
1. DE SILVA shameless cheating and favoring the Paks. I think he made fortune from that TEST and at least bought some weired looking glasses with that money. And who know what else.
2. Cheating by Pak Captain. Kapali was well in course and then he did the cheating. And got banned for 5 matches I think.
3. Our poor Fielding. Specially when Rafiq had a chance to runout the last batsman who was in the same side of the pitch with his captain. We also missed some more chances too.
4. Luck

ICC also put a blame on pak for match fixing but that was not match fixing that was a delebrate effort

Bangladesh won that match of Northampton for their performance on the field just how they won against India and South Africa this World Cup.

Now if you follow the thread, you will see how much bickering going on with the Pakistani BC members? We don't need anymore karosine. Already burning with lots of Indian BC members.

You are pure in heart it seems. But there were several instances where some after joining BC, created controvercial threads just to create a problem. That is why I questioned the motive. Anyways, let me welcome you to BC. Enjoy as much as we do or even more.

Oh really Did ICC fined anybody for that? jailed anybody? or did they even proved that? I know Pak team r well known for losing intensionally but that game was won fare and square cause they took us lightly.

Don't spread your dumb rumors here ok. If you think one win/lose gives test status and ICC depends on WASIM AKRAM talks then please wake up. you are wet.

BTW Irland won not one two matches so lets see how long it takes them to get it.

We had all the infrastructure in position before we could get the status no one country or person GAVE IT TO US.

its funny how you admit that pakistani players are crooks instead of admitting that Bangladesh was a better team than pak on that day.
