Filling the vacancies in the BD Test Team
As things stand now, here's our test team roster with vacancies:
1. TI
2.
3.
4. Mushy/Mahmudullah
5. Sakib
6. Mushy/Mahmudullah
7. Nasir
8. Sunny
9. Shafiul
10. Rubel
11.
Now if we target the next series against Pakistan who are we going to pick for the vacant positions?
No 2 and 3 are the most important positions, and even after a decade of playing test cricket we have only produced one single opening batter of world class ability. Frankly speaking I don't have a clue as to who will partner TI. Do u?
For the no 3 position, I want to try rakib. He seems to have shrugged off that strange period of time when his technique seems to have deserted him. He seems rock solid right now. He's my candidate.
We have two problems at either end of the team: who will be our third seamer? Any ideas?

Samir, are you watching Rok struggle against Sammy's induckers? Umar Gull will have him for appetizers.

don't know what u guys think of Rock but he has good Test type temperament, the rest will improve in time.
If we can afford Imrul we can surely give Rock a long term selection in Tests imo.

naeem for the #2 or #3 spot for me. imrul should be gone in tests, so it's between nafees, junaid, naeem or asif. for me we should give asif more time....junaid and nafees and better than imrul but still struggle....naeem for me has what it takes to play test cricket, don't know if he can handle opening but i'd like to give him a chance.
shuvagoto can take the #3 spot. or take the gloves off mushy and play him at #3, debut anamul and bat at #7.
as far pacer goes i'd give subashis a chance.
everyone is putting sunny in their team after that one match, he had a great match but if nasir comes through consistently as a bowler we already have shakib who bowls great and the same type of spin as sunny. why play 2 spinners of the same type unless they are both really special? maybe bring in noor or even shabbir.....

Sunny and sakib are miles apart as far as types of bowling is concerned...
Razab, apart from one inswinger that got through, Rakib has done fine. And if you think Rakib struggles against a new ball, what would you say about Naeem. Naeem's gumption is great, but only in the middle order...

Gowza, I like your idea about taking the gloves of Mushy..but before that, i'd like to know..
Who is the no 1 keeper in the country as far as ONLY keeping qualities are concerned?

If JuSi gets his touch back against Windies A then he is a lock for #3. I loved his Test match innings in the last couple of years.

i would say dhiman probably has the best gloves, but yeah doubt he'd get the spot, more likely anamul.

Sorry - Rok has no business being in the side. Grit can only carry you so far when you lack some basic skills.

Roquibul needed more innings in the domestic league before making a comeback!
Imrul needs to hit centuries in domestic league as well

Lets set a target. If he score 5 big centuries in next 10 FC matches. Then they can think about him. (I say think). To play 8-9 centuries in 15 FC matches.

atm this guys look secured in test team...No fast bowler is an auto choice..everyone suck...anybody from the FC can fill in for them and cant do worse then them...so we have problem in 2 9 10 11...if naeem doses well in this innings he should be given a chance in 3..he looks test material and can handle the new ball

Let the same team continue for Pak series. Let the team get time to perform.
After all these changes around the team, they definitely deserve time to get any result. Talking of replacing players after this series, is really premature.

Mirpur is a ground where "intelligent" batting line up will always win....so we have no chance

Naeem isn't good against pacer with new ball. So Naeem has no chance at no#2

I think all ashraful time player has same problem. They are over satisfied after 1 match performance. Example
Ash
Rokib
Nafees
Alok
Aftab
We need player like
Tamim
Shakib
Nasir
Mushy
Riad
Imrul in odi
Naeem
Who are more hungry for consistency than one match wonder

Interesting to see how Nasir is everybody's automatic choice now. After TI, Shak, Mushy -- Nasir seem to have the most secured position in the team, at least among the BC members. I think I share the same sentiment too.

I dont like the idea of a makeshift opener. If you have to replace Imrul then please replace him with an opener. I dont see a decent opener around. We have no better options.
I am waiting to see how Johirul performs against WI A. I hope he does ok. He can replace Imrul and can help Mushy with the gloves.
Nayem is THE guy for #4. And Riyad should bat at #3.
1 Tamim
2 Johirul
3 Riyad
4 Nayem/Mushy
5 Mushy/Nayem
6 Shak
7 Nasir
8 Sunny (because of his batting I would keep him in all formats)
9 Razzaq
10 Shafi
11 Rubel
