What should be Rubel's nick at Bangla Cricket?
You can post if your choice is not up there. Sorry if I didn't pick someone's suggestion - the poll will be 2 page long otherwise.

BTW, he plays for Chittagong in the NCL but is not from there in any way. He never even lived in the City by the Bay. He's from Shatkhira AFAIK, but I could be wrong about that. I read something like that a long time ago. Also, MOST OF OUR GUYS come from rural and semi rural small towns in Bangladesh. Not the incubus of viral plague that is the urban, self loathing, English medium culture of wannabes in Dhaka and to a lesser extent, Chittagong.

My two cents.

Rubel is a real promising fast bowler. But it's really too early to jump so much. What has he done so far? Did he get enough chance to prove himself?
Go slow guys. Go slow.....

he is born so we wanna give him a name. Even a homeless has a name but when homeless was born - the name wasn't given in the hope that oneday he will be homeless. Name often reflects how you feel about the birth...
example: kushi, chonchol, mukti, hridoy etc etc.

I am not too convinced after seeing rubel, i dont know why so much praise coming through. He had to improve a lot in international cricket. He has pace but is short in height and tend to stray trying to bowl too quick.
in this tourney he is always giving away runs in the first over and then recovering later. Maybe its better to bowl all his 4 overs in the end.

Rubel is different from other hero to zero potentials IMHO. I don't know too many 19YO, that means he will pick up more pace and skill, Bangladeshi FC cricketers who can:-
1) Bowl consistently between 140 and 148 kmph.
2) Has the natural ability to generate swing and bounce. His reverse yorkers are totally new as far our cricket history and culture is concerned. Even murubbi parhar cricket matobbors, who used to struggle against the mighty Scots, Dutch, archnemesis Kenya, and the Deccan Blues, see this and are duly excited.
3) He has demonstrated the rare ability to learn and apply himself when it comes to control and character. I hope he'll continue to do that.
AM I EXCITED??? F**** YEAH!!! Still not in need of the little blue pill, thank GOD.

Guys we are making a big hype about Rubel, he still needs to prove to the world he's a good bowler. His wickets were only against Scotland and Netherlands. Let's see how he performs against India.

I assume you missed the SL game?? the way he came back after the 15 run over, it was quite extraordinary. In depth he bowled pretty well. And he performed well in BD as well. And he is the only bowler in BD to bowl over 90mph constantly. So bradar, hype to hobei :P

I think A BIG OPTION IS MISSING: NONE OF THE ABOVE - LOL
VOTING IS TOO LOW. And I understand why - cuz all the name sucks including Rubel the bowler
just to be clear: none of these names - i came up with - they are all our members' suggestions :P
and I think "orpheus" is too damn honor a name for Rubel at this stage. "orpheus" means his balls are like music to the eye... or really hilarious :p

Your assumption is incorrect. I have indeed watched the game and I was quite impressed with his bowling. Have you watched his bowling against Australia by the way? He maybe the fastest bowler in Bangladesh but he needs to control his line and length. His death overs were brilliant but unfortunately our Gadha captain's fielding placement was terrible.
Anyway hype kore lab nai, 6th June ee Rubel miar real test. Now it's better to keep our mouth shut and let Rubel do the talking with his bowling.

i'd like to add a subnote:
3 b) He has learned to bowl at the death. Did a resonable job in the matches he's had. Mash, our overall best pacer, still can't bowl at the death. Rubel has that mental fortitude to succeed at all levels. His fitness also seems to abound. I have high hopes for him, and an in form Rajib, who will take the pressure (and glory) off Mash - who will be no less important.
