নিজের অফ স্টাম্পের লাইনটাই বোঝেননি। বল ছেড়ে দিয়ে আউট তামিম! টেস্ট-ওয়ানডে মিলে তিনবার হাফিজের শিকার হলেন বাংলাদেশের এই ওপেনার

পাকিস্তানের ব্যাটসম্যানদের কাছে অনেক কিছু শেখার আছে—আগের দিন সংবাদ সম্মেলনে কথাটা বলেছিলেন মাহমুদউল্লাহ। কিন্তু কাল দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসেও যে রকম ব্যাটিং দেখা গেছে, শুধু নাজিমউদ্দিনই কিছু শিখেছেন বলে মনে হলো।

আউট হয়ে যাওয়া ব্যাটসম্যানরা কেউ দিচ্ছেন ভাগ্যের দোষ, কেউ বলছেন, ‘ভুল হয়ে গেছে।’ কারও হয়তো মনে হচ্ছে, মারার বলে মারতে গিয়েই তো আউট হয়েছি!

তবে এখনো যাঁরা আছেন, সবারই লক্ষ্য, যত বেশি সময় সম্ভব উইকেটে টিকে থাকবেন। উইকেট এখনো ব্যাটিংয়ের জন্য যথেষ্টই ভালো। রান-টান যা-ই হোক, উইকেটের সঙ্গে আঠার মতো আটকে থাকার পণ সবারই। চতুর্থ দিনে এসে চট্টগ্রাম টেস্টের আয়ু নির্ভর করছে তাঁদের এই প্রতিজ্ঞা পালন করতে পারার ওপরই।

বাংলাদেশ দলের ব্যাটসম্যানরা কাল এসব নিয়েই কথা বলেছেন এই প্রতিবেদকের সঙ্গে—

গতকাল যা চেষ্টা ছিল এবং যা হয়েছে—

তামিম ইকবাল: দারুণ একটা উইকেট। লক্ষ্য ছিল, লম্বা সময় টিকে থাকব। কিন্তু নিজেও জানি না কী হচ্ছে! কোচসহ বাইরে থেকে যারা আউটটা দেখেছে, সবাই বলেছে বল স্টাম্পের বাইরে পিচ করেছিল। শেষ দিকে ভেতরে আসে। খারাপ সময় গেলে আসলে সবই খারাপ যায়...। আজকে (গতকাল) এটার সবচেয়ে বড় প্রমাণ পেয়েছি। হাফিজ আসার পর সিদ্ধান্ত নিই, ওকে স্লগ সুইপ খেলব। খেললামও কয়েকটা। কোনো বলই তখন টার্ন করেনি, অথচ করল কিনা যেটা ছাড়লাম সেটা!

শাহরিয়ার নাফীস: একটা বড় ভুল করে ফেলেছি! ওই বলটা সুইপ করতে গিয়েই মনে হয়েছে আউট হয়ে যাচ্ছি...। কিন্তু তখন তো আর মাথায় হাত দিয়ে বসে যাওয়া যায় না। অথচ আজ (গতকাল) শুরু থেকে খুব আত্মবিশ্বাসী ছিলাম। উইকেটও খুব ভালো ছিল। একটা ভুলই সব শেষ করে দিল।

মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুল: ভাগ্যই খারাপ আসলে। বলটা লেগ স্টাম্পের বাইরে পড়ে স্পিন করল, খুব হালকাভাবে লেগেছিল ব্যাটে। ওই বলে এভাবে আউট হওয়া দুঃখজনক। অথচ উইকেট কী যে ভালো ছিল! পরিকল্পনা ছিল, যে বল যেভাবে খেলা উচিত ঠিক সেভাবেই খেলব। আমার রান করা উচিত ছিল এই উইকেটে। কিন্তু ভাগ্যে না থাকলে কীভাবে করব!

নাসির হোসেন: পরিকল্পনা তেমন কিছু ছিল না, থাকেও না কখনো। আগের ইনিংসের মতো ব্যাটিং করে লম্বা ইনিংস খেলতে চেয়েছিলাম। পাকিস্তানিরা বাজে বল খুব কম দিচ্ছে। তবে যে বলে আউট হয়েছি, ওটা মারার বলই ছিল। নিচেই রাখতে চেয়েছিলাম, কিন্তু বলটা উঠে গেছে। আসলে ১০০ বল খেলে ১০ রান করলেও আমি উইকেটে সেট হই না। আমার নামের পাশে যদি ২০ রান থাকে এবং সেটা ১০-১২ বলে আসে, তখন বুঝি যে আমি সেট হয়েছি।

আজ যা করার চেষ্টা করবেন—

নাজিমউদ্দিন: যেভাবে চলছে, চেষ্টা করব কালও (আজ) যেন সেভাবেই চলে। যতক্ষণ সম্ভব উইকেটে থাকতে হবে। বোলাররা ভালো বল করে উইকেট নিলে সমস্যা নেই, আমি যেন উইকেট দিয়ে না আসি। শুরু থেকেই লক্ষ্য ছিল সেশন ধরে ধরে ব্যাট করা। সেটাই করে যেতে চাই। উইকেট ব্যাটিংয়ের জন্য খুবই ভালো। টার্ন তেমন নেই। পেসাররা ভালো বল করলেও ফ্লাট উইকেট বলে তারাও কিছু করতে পারেনি।

সাকিব আল হাসান: বাড়তি কিছু করার চেষ্টা করব না। লক্ষ্য থাকবে যেভাবে হচ্ছে, সেভাবেই চালিয়ে যাওয়া।

মুশফিকুর রহিম: রান কত হলো সেটা একটা ব্যাপার, তবে কাল (আজ) ব্যাটিংয়ে নামলে রানের দিকে তাকাব না। যত বেশি সময় সম্ভব উইকেটে পড়ে থাকার চেষ্টা করব। আউট না হওয়াটাই হবে মূল লক্ষ্য।

মাহমুদউল্লাহ: বাইরে থেকে মনে হচ্ছে উইকেট খুবই ভালো। ব্যাটসম্যান নিজে আউট না হলে আউট করা কঠিন। লক্ষ্য থাকবে, যতক্ষণ সম্ভব উইকেটে থাকা। রানের চেয়ে এটাই বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ এখন।

ইলিয়াস সানি: উইকেটে থাকার চেষ্টা করব। পাকিস্তানের ব্যাটসম্যানরা নিরাপদ ক্রিকেট খেলার চেষ্টা করেছে। আমরাও সেটাই খেলার চেষ্টা করছি। তবে আগেই বলেছি, এই সিরিজে আমাদের ব্যাটসম্যানরা ভালো খেলতে পারছে না। আত্মবিশ্বাস হয়তো কম আছে। তবে সাকিব-নাজিমউদ্দিনকে দেখে মনে হয়েছে সবকিছু ঠিকই আছে। পরের দিকের ব্যাটসম্যানরা নাজিমউদ্দিনকে অনুসরণ করলে ভালো হবে।


কী করা উচিত, দেখা যাচ্ছে সবাই-ই তা জানেন। উইকেটে গিয়ে তা মনে থাকলে হয়!

I know it will never happen but I would like to see the reversed batting order. looks like the bowlers are more cautions in their approach while batting. so let them bat first and watching them batting might bring the top order batsmen come into their senses. by the time the bowers will be out the ball will be old as well. oh wait, pak has quality spinners to exploit the old ball and our batters suck against spin bowling too.

I think he merely meant to say that he likes to get off to a solid start with a good strike rate rather than playing himself in with a lot of dot balls. If he is on 10 off a 100 balls, it mean's he really off his game and will probably get out soon. But yes, he might become an idiot like most Bangladeshi batsmen over time...

As long as he can score runs with good average I don't have any problem. Not all the players are grafters. Some players like to dominate the bowling attack. A good example is Shakib. Tell him to play slow, it is almost guaranteed that he will fail.

Keeping square leg back and bowling a short pitch ball to get the batsman to hook, and his realization is "ball ta marar ball chilo"

Theoretically everybody knows what to do. Even ask the girls in this forum. I am sure Lamisa would be able to describe what to do.

But the problem is the theory doesn't work in the field unless you can implement it properly. Our boys are not accustomed to play long innings. How many FC matches do they play per year?

Playing long innings is a habit which can be polished only by playing enough FC matches and enough long innings.
