All time XI
I have noticed that recently Cricinfo is picking all time England XI, Aust XI....so lets have our own.
Due to my limited knowledge of the pre test era cricketers,I could only come with the following team:
1.TI
2.Atahar
3.Bashar
4.Ashraful
5.Moina
6.Masud
7.Rafique
8.Mortaza
9.Aftab
10.?
11.?
?= Couldn't find appropiate batsman or bowler
Now pls pick urs.

Lets put an end to this and pick this thread back up in 2015.
Right now, I dont have a full team and putting someone in by default is not justifying.

For me, Atahar Ali would have to open, both in ODIs and Tests (although he never played in the longer version - yes, he was that good). Bashar would walk into my test team and Rafique would walk into all three.
No other retired player comes to mind (not even Bulbul, Akram or Nannu).

Yeah Im surprised no one else mentioned AAK. I would think Nannu would make it into the test team well ahead of Ashraful
No idea why Khaled Mahmud is in that team

For test
1) Raqibul hasan (pre 1971 era)( Almost selected to play for Pakistan)
2) Tamim Iqbal - (Best opener we ever had)
3) Nafees Iqbal ( irrespective of the stats he probably had the best technique amongst all bangladeshi batsmen)
4) Ashraful ( lets face it...there is no denying his talent)
5) Aminul Islam Bulbul ( According to Sunil Gavaskar he was good enough to play for India)
6) Alok Kapali ( You would have to be blind to not see his talent)
7) Habibul Bashar - best test batsmen for bangladesh
8) Shakib ( best ever allrounder for bangladesh)
9) Mushfiqur Rahim ( unfortunately we never had too many decent batsmen keeper to choose from)
10) Mashrafee Mortaza - The only fast bowler I would pick....
11) Mohammad Rafique

Nannu came really good near the end of his career and would have made it to the squad for our first ever Test match had he not been a smart butt and retired right before. His problem was that of inconsistency - he was very good in domestic cricket, but the man just couldn't score in ODIs. There was a time when he had played a sizable number of games and yet averaged in the low tens. Sure, he scored a couple of half centuries in the '99 world cup, but so did Mehrab Hossain.
And Ashraful >> Nannu. Even with all his refusals to score more than twice a year. There's no comparison.

ODI:
1. Shahriar Nafees (stats)
2. Tamim (hit and miss; but opponents dare him)
3. Aftab (a quick 30)
4. Ashraful
5. Akram (captain)
6. Sakib
7. Khaled Mashud (Bangladesh has not produced another WK even half of Mashud's calibre)
8. Chacha (he can score a quick 20 and may confuse the opponents with his funny bowling action)
9. Rafique
10. Mashrafe
11. Rubel (he will be a gem if he keeps patience)
Missed out:
Athar (as opener, he is my third choice)
Alok (has not proved his value consistently)
Rasel (Close call)
Razzak (may replace chacha)
HaBa (his ODI record is horrible)

_______________
Athar Ali Khan
Habibul Bashar Shumon
Aminul Islam Bulbul
Mohammad Ashraful
Shakib Al Hasan Moyna
Khaled Mashud Pilot
Mohammad Rafique
Mashrafe Mortaza
Abdur Razzak Raj
_______________
Out of the current squad, only Ash, Mash, Moyna and Raj has/had consistent performances to have a long-term impact in our short history. We have never had a great opener besides Athar (Lets see- Golla, Biddut, Opi, Rokon, Hannan, Nafis and SN.. nope) and Mash is our only world class pacer to-date. I also thought it was appropriate to go with 3 SLAs judging from our cricketing history . I chose Razzak over Moni and Enamul due to his consistency over the last 5 years.
This will be the All-time XI in 2015
Tamim Iqbal Khan
Nafees Iqbal Khan (Junaed Siddique)
Habibul Bashar (Rokibul Hasan)
Mohammad Ashraful
Alok Kapali
Shakib Al Hasan (C)
Mushfiqur Rahim (+)
Mohammad Rafique (Abdur Razzak/Sohrawardi Shuvo)
Mashrafe Mortaza
Shahadat Hossain (Shubhashish Roy- the next Mcgrath )
Rubel Hossain

I reckon this thread is about 10-15 years too early ...
We're just beginning to have our team come together as a consistent competitor at the highest level, thanks to Mac's boys, a far more talented bunch than all previous generations, growing up. The older generation guys, Yusuf Babu, NQ Lintu, Daulat Zaman, and Bulbul being the only exceptions, won't even begin to compete with these guys, and that's a fact.
Anyway, I'm sure the following guys will make the all time list when the time comes:
1. Shakib Al Hasan
2. Tamim Iqbal
3. Mushfiqur Rahim, as batsman
4. Khaled Mashud Pilot (WK)
5. Mohammad Rafiq
6. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza
7. Enamul Haq (NOT Moni)
Probables, if they manage to get their **** together, and improve/perform consistently: 1) Mohammad Ashraful Matin, 2) Alok Kapali, 3) Shahriar Nafees, 4) Nafis Iqbal, 5) Junaid Siddique, 6) Aftab Ahmed, 7) Imrul Kayes, 8) Rubel Hossain, 9) Syed Rasel, and 10) Talha Jubair.
Players with limited ability: 1) Mohammad Mahmudullah, 2) Nayeem Islam, 3) Raquibul Hasan, and 4) Mohammad Sohrawardi.
Guys not in the team yet: 1) Shaju Datta, 2) Shubhashish Roy, 3) Nazmus Sadat, 4) Amit Mazumdar, 5) Nasir Hossain, 6) Imtiaz Hossain, and 7) Suman Saha.
As productive as HaBa was and as thankful as I am for that, I never liked his streakiness. I'm sure other guys will surpass him.

My All time 11...
- Athar Ali Khan
- Shahriar Nafees
- Habibul Bashar
- Aminul Islam Bulbul
- Mohd. Ashraful
- Minhajul Abedin
- Shakibul Hassan
- Khaled Mashud
- Mashrafe Murtaza
- Mohd. Rafique
- Talha Jubair (before getting injured?)
Tamim fans, he is too young to judge, and Talha Jubairs spot.. not so sure.. but then again.. he is much better option than shanto. I would love to squeez durjoy in there somewhere but team is full or Nannu is better option.
Another problem would be 4 front line spinner.. but Bulbul, Ash, and Nannu are all handy bowler. so IMO, this is a very good team.

Suggestion: Why don't we have a poll with 20 best players and let everyone pick and then write an article about top 11?
At least having a poll would be nice.
