From the newsgroups
Here's what people are saying about our team ...
"If Bangladesh must continue to play Test cricket then I have few suggestions
for the authorities to make their matches more interesting/competitive:
1. Bangladeshis be allowed to bat in three innings in the match. At least, it
would extend the match to the fourth day. Or
2. Each Bangladeshi batsman be dismissed by their opponents twice in an
innings. Or
3. Bangladesh be allowed to borrow two players for the match from other
Test-playing countries. Or
4. Boundary line be moved few yards in, when Bangladesh is batting. Or
5. Like Bowling (the sports), a handicap system be introduced thereby
Bangladeshis should start their innings with 100 or 150 runs already on board.
Any comments, suggestions and additions are, by all means, welcome.
Khalid"
"All good suggestions but I'd like to add some other rules we used to follow
playing in the school yard.
6. No lbw or stumping.
7. First ball faced by a batsman is always a trial ball.
8. You can't be out unless you've hit the ball atleast once.
9. Last batsman can bat alone.
10. If the ball is hit behind square and beats the wk or slips then it's 2
runs declared.
11. No bouncers allowed. If the ball is chest high or higher, batsman
gets awarded 4 runs.
12. If you hit a batsman you cannot bowl anymore (unless you're bigger
than everybody else in which case this rule does not apply.)
- Gussie"
"13. both bat and ball to remain the property of BD. In the event of a dispute, BD
can take their bat and ball and go home.
(just kidding Moby, don't take this too seriously. BD do not appear to have
displayed any signs of poor sportsmanship)
Higgsy"
and there's more ...

This is idiotic. It all will change in a few years. right now we only have 2 world class player, Sumon and Koushik.
What do they expect? Team like Zimbabue who were famous for play west indies players? We dont play anyone not bangladeshi, if we wanted we could play Pakistani or Indians.
Only if BCB were on the right track...we could show them how wrong and idiot they are in a few years.

IT\'S BECAUSE OF LUNCH
IT'S BECAUSE OF LUNCH - from Dailystarnews.com
Does it happen all because of lunch?
Bangladeshi batsmen don't like to be on the pitch when lunch break is nearby, a Sri Lankan journalist observed.
Three of their top-order batsmen threw away their wickets in the last ten minutes of the pre-lunch session in both innings when they should have played out the overs.
"They seemed to be feeling hungry. Don't take proper breakfast?" asked a leading cricket reporter of Lanka.

This is just a hunch.
Let BD team eat Presindent (if I remember right) Biriyani from Dhaka stadium for Lunch. I believe the performence will improve dramatically, speciall Akram will mark his first test century.

Firmly believe
Yes, I'm in on with you guys with this. I suppose it will take a few years before every player in the team gets level to some extent - I suppose 11 average test players make a big difference from 2-3 average/good and 8-9 crappy/under-nourished/soon to be senile/juvenile players.
The following will keep on playing for BD -
Sumon,Koushik,Javed Omar,Khaled Mashud, Talha Jubair.......all 5 will become fairly good to great players one day.
The following are however anybodies guess, and if we still get those "real coaches" (Andy/Miandad) visiting BD from time to time, these guys will really be struggling to hold a place:
Al-Shariar
Ashraful
And finally.......Akram Khan should really be forgotten. Dump your nostalgia with him and Nannu, for if bad form doesn't catch up, age surely will and has.

Age ?
Wait, Akram is barely 30-34 (khek), just like Masri was 16 and Hannan is 19. Same goes for Rokon, I don't know where you get your info but I know for a fact (provided by BCB off course) that Rokon is ONLY 24.
(hence, he has been playing cricket ever since I can remember)

Manju
Manju is only 23 (look at his profile), which makes him a kid among world cricketers. What are we worried about, with a 23 year old heading our bowling, we should be proud we have such a 'young' side.

It does make sense.

I agree
we have a very YOUNG test side... with even the experienced players new to test cricket...we have nothing to worry about...for the next so many years these guys will sleep, eat and breathe test and first class cricket and from amongst them will rise a breed of super test cricketers who will make us tall and proud...I believe we as a people are tremendously hard-working, and intelligent, and are capable of achieving a lot when our heart is in the right place... so just you wait ...
ooooh yeah!!!! that felt gooooood....

True, Akram is not that old, compared to De Silva.
But he is needlessly taking up a youngsters position. In my opinion, he should never be playing in place of Ashraful.
All he is, is a veggie eating dyno from the Pre - test ICC days, capable of only taking it out against smaller and timid bowling attacks. But I here BD might once again be back to playing teams like Malay, Nepal...I say let the club weilding hominid back into the team then again.
About the youngsters.....Mr. Tehsin, I could not quite understand your response.
But I will agree with all of you...Nannu should be playing, but only because Akram Khan has been given so many opportunities, and nothing else.

The age thing
Almost all are about 2-4 years off from their ACTUAL age. That's all I meant with that.
At this moment, if we are sent back to ACC and ICC trophy, some of the teams will eat us alive just because we have test status, they will play their best and our players will make silly mistakes. i for one want our players to get out of this rut they are in before playing teams like Nepal, Holland, Canada and "KENYA".
