Default Bad Example: Our younger players are learning to be indisciplined

I just heard from somebody that our players were not disciplined with girls in Australia.

I would like to hear your comments on this - especially since somebody like Khaled Mashud, a senior player is still in the team even after his incidents in South Africa (although he was dropped - but certainly his dropping did not give the others some lesson).

Anyone responsible to watch their conduct? Coach? Manager?

I would like to know what "indisciplined" means.

Players are adults. Mangers/captains/coaches can't be nannies. If they want to get it on with women, that's their prerogative as long as they perform on the field and no team protocol is broken (if the manager sets a curfew before a match day, that has to be respected by all). Otherwise, to each his own.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if all what they did was stay in their rooms and watch telly all day. After all, the tour's supposed to make them all-rounded individuals and not just cricketers no?

If only speaking to girls means a player's performance is on the decline, then shouldn't it be a curfew for that individual player?

On a serious note, Are you certain that it was specifically Pilot and Golla who were the culprits? Because they're also idols to our younger players and the majority no of players are young - and if you know from children - then learn quickly.

Don't we want testosterone ON the field? The thing is it has to be produced OFF the field.

I just want to add if I may, this undisciplined stuff that fahmida was talking about is so every day stuff by the touring guys that it's not even their part of the disscussion. Discipline stuff gets implemented during Big tounament like World Cup etc, but for other tours it seems it's just part of the tours that the guys will go out at night and come back really late if there is no game on the next day. I know it's really hard to swallow for people of our country, but it just comes with the teritory.

I personally think it is something we should stay away from. It is their individual personal life and none of our business. We are here to appreciate their play, not worship the person, thus their personal life is irrelavant.

FW:

What exactly was this alleged 'indisciplined behavior'? Are we talking *ex, alcohol, recreational phamaceuticals..... Here are some thoughts on this topic.

The manager and/coach should set a curfew, and assign appropiate disciplinary action for those who care to breach the curfew.

While these players are adults, they also represent their country. BD can ill-afford negative press in the world media. So any amorous adventures should be kept sub-rosa so to speak, as these things have a tendency to blow up at most inopportune moments.

If players are partying late or partaking in alcohol the night before a match, DAV should read them the riot act and have the manager send him on a one-way ride home, to sleep it off.

Most importatantly, the manager of the team needs to be an authoritative figure- not just someone who can finalise travel and room 'n borad arrangements. Ultimately, it is his/her responsibility to set the standards of behavior- and to enforce them.

During the Australia tour I think the official rule was that players had to be in their rooms by 9pm on nights before matches. I don't know if this was strictly enforced or not. Anyhow, what they do in their spare time isn't really our business..

I just heard from Dileep about this.

And according to him, Australian girls did not like our players' behavior - or something like that (can't remember it exactly now).
