Today is 12th April !!!
Its 12th april today guys!!...Remember that day....Cant believe it has been 10 years! 12 April, 1997....Where it all started....Our stunning efforts against Kenya in the ICC Trophy final which gave us the freedom to dream and dream big....For the benefit of our newer members it was the time when we beat Kenya to win the ICC Trophy which eventually laid the foundations to gain test status and our entry into the World Cup proper....Before that we had never qualified for the World Cup...It was a special final...We actually chased down 166 in 25 overs (D/L)...Still remember every single moment.....Glued to the radio listening to Chowdhury Zafarullah Sharafat.....We needed 33 of the last 3 overs and 11 of the last over...Pilot smashed the 1st ball for six!....came down to the last ball....What a match it was.....My mom started crying once we won....cooked Biriyani to celebrate......the whole week went by like a dream.....It feels so much sweeter now that the dream is actually materialising....I know we have a lot of members who werent following our cricket then....But Im sure there were quite a few of them who went through all that I went through...What a tournament it was...remember the match against Holland...Gosh!...We were almost gone at 15/4.....Feels so good to look back at it now....It was totally worth it...We are here for good now.....Alhamdulillah!.....Here is the link to the final scorecard:

its hard to believe that only 10 yrs ago we used to worry about teams like kenya, holland and UAE. and nowadays we pull down teams like india and SA. shows what great strides BD cricket has taken although it had been a rocky ride.

I remember the color water throwing (i hated that) and remember how they threw papers from the high rise buildings in banani and made it like a football game in argintina... I saw so many foreigners who had no clue what happen but were talking pictures of the events...

I was visiting Dhaka at that time. Thought what's the big deal we had already qualified for the WC. i thought people were over reacting a tab bit too much. The match was cut short because of rain. However, the tense finish was great to listen in the car radio.

hmm, so THIS is how far we've come in ten years. i guess it's a good indicator of the value of the "give us five to ten years" -type clauses.

I remember listening to the match on radio while travelling. I was absolutely ecstasic! It's really amazing how much we have improved since. God knows how good we'll be in 10 more years!

I remember staying up all night, hunched in-front of my tiny laptop screen, following the game through Cricinfo with my wife-to-be. I still remember the boundaries being hit and CI comms typing "crowd goes Hoo Haa, Hoo Haa". I remember both of us jumping up and down when we won even as I got all teary-eyed. I remeber going to work a few hours later with no sleep and a huge smile on my face. Our cricket surely has come a long way - it's been a fun ride.

Me and my father was sitting in front of the computer all night, reading CI comms. We were discussing the chances and what will happen if we win. I still remember the last over excitement. It was thrilling to the bone. We couldn't believe when Shanto took the last run! My father was thinking we won't be able to make it when Martin Suzi came to bowl last over! It was great game and great memories.

Oh mann, that was a tense match. After tiffin break in school all of us were listening to the match on the radio so intently.... Even our teachers were asking "what's going on? Whats the score?". It was soo intense!

I remember that. Luckily, I was at home in BD, and watched it live. The best thing was right after that match, we went for bijoy michil. That's one of the best days of my life
