Default breaking news:4 nation T20 tournament in kenya

LAHORE, Aug 9: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) could be the fourth team of a four-nation Twenty-20 tournament to be held in Kenya from Sept 1 to 4. Pakistan, Bangladesh and hosts Kenya have already confirmed their participation.

PCB Director Cricket Operations, Zakir Khan said that the negotiations were under way to also include UAE and hopefully they would also be participating.

The PCB has decided to take part in the tournament to get some practice, before taking part in the Twenty20 World Championship to be held in South Africa from Sept 11 to 24.

Asked if a practice against such lowly-rated teams would serve the purpose of gaining required practice, before the Championship, Zakir said it was just a warm-up tournament.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so here we go from sept 1 many days are remaining
i think it is good for cricket and espically for PAK AND BANG as they both will adjust in african conditions

"Lowly-rated teams"? Ahh well guess i can't say much more....
Anyways it's good that this tournament is being held. Don't know if the nairobi pitch is going to be very similar to the one's in South Africa though...

I take it the matches involving UAE won't be classed as Twenty20 International's.

However, seeing UAE is a First Class team (they play in the Intercontinental Cup) there is no reason I can see why the games couldn't be classed as normal Twenty20's. All helps the stats...

UAE is full of talented players, but they don't have the mental capability to go on for a long time. I would say, playing with them will give our boys a jharu-pitani type treatment, where every ball will be played regardless of the merit of the ball or the shot. So our bowlers might find it difficult to ball to UAE batsmen...quite deservedly.

Don't underestimate Kenya, coz they have got a few players that can make you sweat. And as for Pakistan, lets see how it goes.

As a whole, I think this will be a good tournament, and I'm all for it. Some practice is better than no practice, when it comes to a form of cricket that we haven't played much and don't know much about.

AFAIK... UAE became a weak team after ICC imposed rules against easily adopting migrated players.... mostly because UAE team's real strength was their players who were migrated from IND/PAK etc.

the reporter is right about showing his concern about the tournament. after all Bangladesh was in the second round in last WC. Pak and Ken was out from 1st league and UAE was not in the WC at all. Yes its very concerning for Bangladesh. r they going to have a proper practice?

this willl be a good series.. Pakistan is a strong 20/20 team.. they play a lot of 20/20 tournaments in pakistan.. so playing against them will give our players some good practice..

I wasn't aware of this new rule. My comment was based on what UAE played like 7/8 years ago. I've seen them play, and it was amazing.

You're right, the reason they played well was due to their imported players. Either way, I spoke too soon without checking the facts, and based it on my knowledge that expired due to the new ICC rule.

Will these match be televised? Last time we visited Kenya no ODIs were televised. I would at least like to see the Pakistan-BD clash.

Any practise match in African soil before the cup would be good irrespective of the opponents.

Yes, very concerning for Bangladesh, playing with other "lowly-rated" teams...
but what the hec...
