BDFlag call me a dreamer

i will be the 1st one to admit that i used to disparage my own country for many years as the frustrations from huge defeat after defeat got the best of me, i used to think bangladesh had no hope.

but i think i am a convert now after many many years i am starting to feel positive, theoretically now bangladesh is building up a formidable batting lineup. maybe in the next two years bangladesh would be able to score 400+ on a regular basis. just look back 2 years ago bangladesh had trouble scoring 200+ runs now we do 300 a 100 runs may not sound a lot but its a lot of work.

the players are very young take away razzak and the avg is approx about 24.

reasons for hope

we now have a proper opening batsman in tamim, we can reasonably expect that he will hold down one end and is improving every day (yes slight mistakes happen this is cricket)

we have the making of a formidable middle order in sakib mum mashfiq naeem (sakib needs a bit for patience and a bit more experience)

thats five good batsmen right there

we just need a partner for tamim, will be honest eventhough everyone was saying junny needs to be dropped perhaps still so, but he has been in two of the highest partnerships bangladesh has been in. a bit more practice everyday at the nets and bowling machines and i am sure he will be sound.

imrul i dont want to blame the guy today, rough day he had while he was batting he had deep fear in his eyes. some more seasoning is needed. he is only 23 a kid still. he can be a reserve opener.

thats 7 players right there.

we now need a wicketkeeper preferably a specialist also a batsman, if not a specialist will do.

2 genuine pacers medium to fast not so call fast who bowl off spin pace.

and bcb needs to invest in bowling machines 12-14 is just not enough. heck my local preschool baseball team almost has more. more machine batsmen can go there at their own leisure and hit day in day out and see how to play shots or work a ball. then have the tape analyzed for corrections needed. there is no substitute for practice after practice after practice. batmen should make it a hobby, frustrated with life, hit the ball, gf is not returning calls hit the ball, dont like the political situation hit the ball. angry hit.

trust me in two years we will not just challenge anymore I think we will win. In the mean time the bench strength will only grow.

couple of years ago NZ coach said bangladesh would need 10 years to be a proper team, i can today hope we will go above and beyond his original prediction and do it in half the time he predicted. It is reasonable we will be better than NZ or at par and certainly better than WI and Pak

am i a dreamer?

You're a dreamer. But that's what fan should be. Professionalism is for layers. Fans should be dreamers.

Its a dream but it can be turned into reality. I wish the FC structure of BD were a good one.

Signs of improvements in general is quite clear. A decent batting line up, a decent bowling line up. But the small little problems which kill us every time still exist, i.e. immediate collapse after a good partnership. Dropped shoulders when the wickets' aren't coming etc.
If we can get these things right, in 4 years time, the world will think about G9, not G8.

these are young kids the things they are doing now granted getting paid handsomely, I am sure none of us would have been able to do. I have now a nagging suspicion within this year we will see the end of the collapse. JS i have to say did a great thing, picked a group of young ones and gave them as much exposure to the fire as he could. It is in this test of fire real men are coming out and weak ones are perishing.

nowadays in odi 250 has become an average score for us , 300 in test ....3 or 4 years back we made these score twice in a year .
batsmen are making centuries as we used to get 50...
neverthless we need 2 top order batsmen

next we need

-100s converted int 150s
-big 200 partnerships
-batting for 5 session an innings or getting 400
-tail showing some resistance

bowling wise
- we no we have few wicket taking bowlers, so until we are making wicket taking bowlers, we have to produce economical bowlers. frustrate opponents by no runs

fielding , catching, wicketkeeping
- this sector we should be world class, no excuse

and we have every right to dream and our dream will come true sooner or later
