Default Great inspiring Song

I have an African friend who shared this gem with me. This is a great Djibouti singer. His songs inspired many pirates to loot ships (unconfirmed). He song almost inspired me to loot a ship.

You posted almost the same post in the Qawwali thread (except for the looting part, and the video link). Such crimes have led to life-long bans in this very place. So I call for similar punishment for you. No crimes should go unpunished.

It would also teach a lesson to a potential pirate ;-)

I love Heeshilee, he has one of the best voices...I love Fiirsi....

Here Heeshilee looks almost like my young father in the 60s. and All his 4 band-mates look like my chachas from Brahmanbaria, I swear!! My father was very skinny when he was young.

I love this song really, it's a love song, popular jaunra, he is singing it to his future wife...
I always wished my father and mother loved each other like this and I wshed my dad sang this song or something similar with this voice to my mother!
Very nice!

It goes like,
"Ohh pretty village girl Shakawanika, hpretty heavy hipped baby where are going?
I will give your father 3 cows and 6 goats and marry you and bring you to my village
I will tka eoyu sweet baby to the Serenghetti for honey moon
and return before harvestin Kanwanza so that we can have many many children...
ooohhooo babay baby, don't go over there, lions are coming..
Ohh babay baby don't trust the Sudanis just love me...
Kanwanza is around the corner oh my sweet thang..."
I love this song! I like the jaam too, like the guitar dude's licks!

Okay lets keep this thread intact and sacred as iDumb's playroom of obscure world music. If you have mainstream music to share, lets do it in this thread.

- as mod.

This is the more folksy* afghani-tajik rendition. Perfect fit for iDumb's bubble gum thread!

*yes, folk, not just pop ~ Habib doing a Baul Shah Abdul Karim song in its original tune is still a pop rendition of a folk song!

Love the Turkish folksy original version of the one dedicated to SohelNR as well. The stories in all these songs are quite something!
