I would have given players like Riyad, Nayeem a chance in this squad as they are both out of form. I would also put Nirala in this squad because he only played that one match against england and he was out again. So let him get a hang of things. Other than that good enough squad.

Good Squad.

Last time their only Practice match got washed out before any ball bowled for Rain @ Fatulla Stadium. at that point Fatulla had no facilities against rain. Myself and thebest bhai were there to watch NZ players playing football instead of cricket. Hope this time it will go on with no problem.

I read in a bangla newspaper recently that fatulla's WC related venue improvement is really slow although the construction company says they will do it by the end of nov but the reporter thinks that is not possible. in some area of work he was saying 80% work is not done yet! SMBL!

A great squad overall..gotta applaud the selectors for the squad..great combination of fringes and upcoming talents..looks like this squad could give the Kiwis some trouble..looking forward to who performs..and bangladesh_sy I think they left out Nirala, Riyad and Naeem because they don't want any national team players to get exposed to the Kiwis..

Here is my playing XI:

1. Rony Talukdar
2. Nazimuddin
3. Mohammad Ashraful (c)
4. Shuvagoto Hom
5. Shamsur Rahman/Faisal Hossain
6. Nasir Hossain
7. Md Mithun (wk)
8. Sabbir Rahman
9. Dollar Mahmud
10. Nur Hossain
11. Syed Rasel

If this team can perform to it's full potential then I believe they can give NZ a run for their money, who knows even beat them!

Overall a very good squad except the pace bowling department.... I would have selected Talha and Sharif/Ziaur Rahman over the likes of nazmu/Dolar and Rasel (Trott and collingwood pace at best).....

I know Sharif and talha been tried and tested without much success but they are more successful in the domestics than the other failiure Nazmul and Dolar. Also Anyone who knows cricket and actually had the chance to watch Ziaur Rahman play should know that he is a very good bowler for death overs.. Can produce yorkers with a lot of success and that is also the case with Sharif...while both are terrible with the new ball.

Cmon Ashraful, score a century... I know most forumers hate you but I still think you are one of the very few match winners that bangladesh has ever produced...When your career ends, probably the likes of Raqibul Hasan and Imrul Kayes would have far better averages than you but i can bet that they will never win any matches for the team like you did.
GO ASH

Nazmul was bowling really well before getting injured. I'd have liked Rok, SN, Jahirul, Naeem and Shuvo to get some match practice before the series.

My XI:
Shamsur Rahman
Nazimuddin
Shuvagoto Hom
Mohammad Ashraful*
Foisal Hossain
Mithun Ali+
Shabbir Rahman (Nur Hossain)
Nasir Hossain
Shahadat Hossain
Nazmul Hossain
Syed Rasel

no disrespect to Ash but I dont want him to score 100 in practice matches and to rush into national team. I rather want him to hit 3-4 100s in NCL and then make a comeback.

i want ash to be fit for world cup and show what he is capable of and all the hype abt him.

same here--i dont want him to be in the squad sometimes soon. he should realize its not a easy ride. we need consistency from him.

I don't even remember the last time Ashraful scored a century, in any form of cricket. I can say with a fair degree of certainty that he will fail yet again.

The national team still has gaping holes in the top and middle order. Some of these guys can conceivably still make it to the world cup team with some special performances. Shuvagoto, Nazimuddin and Shamsur are the front runners one would think. These guys really need to make this game count.

I hope Shuvogotho has a good game or two and he gets to play at lease in 1 ODI.

^^^ Shuvogoto has no chance to play in the 1st ODI. He is not in the main XV. I think if shuvo has a great game then we might see him in 3rd or 4th ODI. I wish him all the best

Well for me I want Ash to do really well in the warm up matches..it would be nice to see Ash doing well but the problem with our selectors is that they get so hyped up about Ash doing well in the warm up matches and once he steps in to play for the official games then he struggles..so what the selectors should do is not select him for this tour and let him play the whole season of NCL..if he can be consistent there then we can start to consider him..but I don't want him to just have a double hundred and then single digit scores..I want consistency from him and he needs to show it if he wants to be back in the national team..
