It'd have to be Ian Chappell for me.He knows what he's talking about, and he calls it right, the stuff he says, and advise from this guy is pure f-ing gold!

Entertainment-wise,tie between Tony Greg and David Lloyd, but Tony Greg was one of the uncountable reasons why i fell in love with the noble game, the good 'ol sharjah days, that was the time when commentary was at it's best!

GODDAMMIT!,forgot to put Harsha on the poll!,D'oh!

I agree about shastri, he is very boring.

what makes harsha the best IMO is that he keeps his own opinions to a minimum and gets the best cricketing knowledge out of his fellow commentators who are mostly ex-cricketers. you will notice that he rarely passes opinions but prefers to spur on the co commie by asking incisive questions. he is very good at it.

Bumble, Gower, Holding.
Benaud is the big daddy of all the commentators.

Harsha don't have a clue about things and his voice sounds you-know-how
Sunny (though I don't like him much), is the best of subcontinent coms.

he doesn't have a clue ? okay, if you say so.
even putting away my views for a moment, I've seen(heard) him making cricketing points that have been strongly appreciated by people like boycott. now whatever you say, I'm not going to value your evaluation more than boyc's.
as for his voice, that has been his stronger point, contrary to what you say. after all he ain't the most telegenic. when Ind were touring aus back in 90's I've read more than one fawning report in aussie media about his 'sexy voice'. may be you are too young to remember the 90's ?

^Maybe that kind of voice was considered sexy in 90s. Now it's considered gay.

Yeah a bit too young but that aint the point here. His "I Just wonder/get the feelings" annoys the crap outta me. I've never loved his oversimplified commentary, it is tolerable compared to the mighty Lal and Laksham duo, or even Ramiz raza.

I'm just rating him as a commentator, he's a pretty decent writer. Commentary is not just about making fair points, even I can make a few good points - but that doesn't make me a good commentator now, does it? (harsha style )
