Well done Raynman. I always look forward to your pre-series stats threads. I really hope we get a 10 wicket win at some stage. I don't think we've ever had that at any level. I also hope we can beat our highest total although that might be difficult in these conditions. I think Imrul might do some damage in this series. He can take over where SN left off. If he can average 35 against the g8, then imagine what he'll do to Zim. I believe he needs 28 more runs to score 2nd most in a calender year, behind leader SN 1,033 in 2006.

Can't believe that zunaed has played so many odis and still hasn't piled up 1000 runs yet. Imrul has almost caught up with him and he pretty much played all his odis this year. Well good thing zunaed has improved and hope he continues to do a good job at #3.

Razzak and Mash should reach their 150 wickets mark.
Junaed for his 1000th run.
It would be a fight between Sakib and Ash for the highest run scorer for BD against Zims.
Chance for Sakib to better his numbers on captaincy.

Raynman bhai, whats our previous best record of most consecutive wins? My guess would be 2006 when we won 18 and lost 10 overall. We are in good stead to put on a string of 9 consecutive wins.

Raynman bhai wouldn't it be fair that the 1st ODI win against NZ goes to Shakib? I mean he was the captain for pretty much the whole game.

Our best win streak is 9 starting in 2006 and into one match in 2007. It consisted of a Champions trophy win vs. ZIM, followed by a 5-0 whitewash of ZIM, a 2-0 of Scotland and another one (2007) vs. ZIM. We won that series 3-1 after losing the 2nd match. We then won Bermuda, Canada, India and followed by a loss to SL another win vs. BER. So it was part of a 16-2 stretch.

In 2009 we had another 8 match strech with 2 vs. ZIM, 3 vs. WI and another 3 vs. ZIM. We went 14-2 in that run with all wins vs. ZIM and WI.

I agree but the match started with Mash as teh official captain and it was Mash who went to collect the prize for the team. Same deal with the 1st Test against WI.

I'm going with the official stats here but thats why I made it a point to mention the exclusion as it really was Shakib's win.

i just checked it myself...

yes we have a 9 game streak against ZIM and SCO in 2006.

the other streak was 7 games, not 8, against WI and ZIM (2009).

we have a chance to make it 9 here, and hopefully 11 if we beat India and Ireland in the World Cup.

I stand corrected.

So far in a series involving more than 1 ODI, we have clean sweeps against

Kenya (4-0), Scotland (2-0), Zimbabwe (5-0), New Zealand (4-0), West Indies (3-0) and Ireland (3-0).

Netherlands is the only team we don't have an ODI victory against that we have played.

If we win today and 2nd ODI, we will officially be the #8 ranked team in ODIs.

Good for Razzak in breaking the 150 mark and moving to 152. Shakib got another 50+ score but this loss is painful.

Looks like Mash and Siddons may get their 3-2 wish.

Hopefully we'll regroup today:

- BD lost 3 points to 64 in the rankings. A win today will give us 1 point
- Razzak became the lead wicket taker (44) in head to head between BD & ZIM
- Shakib is now the highest BD run getter vs. ZIM (796). Chigumbura is at 853

Interesting Note :

Today is Shakib's 100th ODI and his debut was also against ZIm in Aug 6, 2006.

Shakib scored a 30* (batting #4) to support SN's 188* as we won by 8 wickets chasing 197 in 44.4 overs. Bowling : 10-0-39-1. This was the 5th ODI of the series in Harare and we lost the series 3-2.
Mushy also debuted in that match.

nice analysis. It is so surprising why SN is not playing in this series with such a good record againtst Zim.
