Default Proud of Our Boy's Test Performace

It has been really nice to see a different look bangladesh that fought really hard to be competitive in this Test Series. many positives, in the past even on flat tracks we could not reach 5th day, I see a lot of potential. I think players like Anamul, Mominul and Nasir will be our core Test players in the coming years, well played boys.

Yeah. Until the second innings collapse in the second test, we fought evenly. Hats off to the boys. Signed.

To be honest, i did not expect 1st test performance but wasn't too pleased with 2nd test performance though. Considering our recent performance, we should have batted much better specially when top order batsmen were set but they threw away their wicket.

Our bowling was not up to the mark too thanks to Selectors for picking wrong bowling combo for 2nd test. Despite the track, we should have stick to our strengths that's spin bowling. How could they go with just one genuine off spinner in a test match and that too in Subcontinent ? Either Razzaq or Mosharof Rubel should have been included in the playing XI. Things may have been different all together, who knows !

Moreover, this SL team is the weakest that we played since our test status. Apart from Dilshan, Sanga and Herath, no one is better than ours. Looking at our bowling, it seemed we had no plan for Dilshan and Sanga. We allowed them to score freely which eventually costs us the 2nd Test.

However, positive side is we had a mental block against SL. Seems like we are gradually overcoming that mental block thing.

I hope, both selectors and team management would address those issues and pick the best possible combination.

Overall, 6.5/10 for the series.

Good thread here. Obviously we're all disappointed here but overall we've shown a lot of improvement. Keep in mind that our most consistent batsman and bowler, Shakib did not play. Without him we showed great fight.

On the batting side, we've finally showed that we can draw matches out which is a big improvement. Even if it's on a batting paradise. Back in the day, we could never even dream of scoring 500-600 runs in 1 innings. So that itself is a big improvement. In the 2nd Test match, on a pitch where there was more for the bowlers, it was a big test and we needed to do better. I always knew Herath would be a handful and was proved right. On better sporting wickets, we need to show more resilience. That's our next Test.

As for the bowling side, even with our limitations in the pace bowling department, they still bowled well. I cant' blame them all that much in the 1st Test since there was nothing to offer but in the 2nd Test, they fought and got wickets. Next step for the pacers is to bowl with better control. Gazi once again showed that he's a great find and we need to keep nurturing him.

Looking forward to our next Test assignment against the Zimbabweans.

Good test series. Clearly shows the improvement of the team specially when we played without Shakib.

They kept 8 of the 10 days of test competitive. Not bad at all. And lost in all these is the fact that this is the first (or second?) time we drew a test against top 8 without the help of weather.

We played one unusual innings, other than that, this is the same old poor performance. Considering we played a toothless bowling attack due to our retarded selectors, and still played the same level as before, plus that one fluke innings, they deserve a clap.

Well done B team.

I won't call the bowling attack toothless, at one stage SL were 69/4 in first innings and went to make 264/5 that was it for us! Sanga and Chandimal ruined the party. The Fast bowlers did really well compared to opposition bowlers ( BD 6 SL 4) First Innings pacers wicket, (BD 2 SL 2) pacers wicket even in second innings. The fact that Sanga killed us tell's the story of the test Series.

As I said, I was only looking for players who can get his average up in away games. Mushi, Ash (bonus), Nasir, Jaharul, Mominul, Sohag all improved their averages. Tamim was very close as well. This is not an easy task. Well done boys.

The draw is the icing on the cake.

When was the last time we played two innings over 200 against a top team in an away game with so many untested, unproven young blood?

Not really. Not many times in the past we have given any opposition a target of 160. SL in their home condition is an extremely tough team to beat. NZ came and lost all their tests and Pak,SA,ENG struggle here. So overall I am happy with the team's performance

Kind of agree with you.

I was proud of the experienced players how they played during the 1st TEST but very disapointed with the expereinced players in 2nd TEST while the young guns (including Jahirul, wo is not young but inexperienced) tried their best fighting to their teeth.

So I have a mized reaction, but overall I am happy as new players are making things more interesting and competative for the team.

First test performance is overshadowed by the 2nd.
All the positives are wiped away after playing the 2nd test.
Therefore, 1 drawn and one lost by end of 4th day does not give much of consolation.

Not true, after we beat NZ 2-0 they went to India and lost 2-0 aswell and then went to SL and drew 1-1, this SL side are the weakest they've been for a long time imo and it was a good chance for the Tigers to at least draw the series, but if you keep letting Sanga get ton after ton then obviously your chances are gonna be limited.

We have lost the last 7 of our 8 matches in Sri Lanka by an innings. Bangladesh again proves its a team on the rise. Hope we can do sth in the ODI's.

Test batting stats for last 2 yrs and 9 months after the England tour (from june 2010-19th march 2013). There is a reason why ppl (including myself) are not happy with Tamim, and specially Riyad. One avg 31.81 with no and the latter only avg 19.30. Heck even Ash's avg is 49.28

But overall more players are scoring runs and relatively have very gd average . Those who aren't performing should be drop, yes that includes Tamim too. Pathetic that he hasn't scored a single in any format of the game for last 3 yrs and avg only 30's.

Yes, I am proud of our performance in this Test series.
The 2nd Test could have been different if the outfield wasn't so poor, we suffered the most as we batted first.
With a flop bowling attack & without Sakib what we did was quite remarkable.
Also we need to remember that we never won the toss, so both times Srilanka had the possibility to make good use of the condition.
And then off course there are the decisions going against us.
