Sarfraz Ahmed - A fantastic fighter
Brilliant player, but more importantly a gutsy fighter with a lot of wits about him. I presume he sees Javed Miandad as his idol, who was also from Karachi and was a very thinking cricketer alongside having a great character.
The reason why Pakistan is where they are in this tournament is mainly because of Sarfraz Ahmed. Most people probably forget that in 2012, when we lost the Asia Cup final against Pakistan by 2 runs, a lot was down to Sarfraz Ahmed. He played a fighting knock of 46 of 52 and hammered 19 runs in the last over bowled by "Shahrukh Khan".
Hats off to him. Pakistan indeed needed a brilliant captain like him. He has a very positive attitude. He gives a lot of confidence to the young players like Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali. He also played the most important innings for Pakistan in this tournament against Sri Lanka. In fact, in recent years, he improved so much as a cricketer that now he averages >35 in the ODIs and >40 in tests. You don't see such high batting stats from Pakistani wicket keepers. He is already way better than Mushfiqur, who is a rubbish captain.
Once again, just like the legendary Mustaq Muhammad did, another Karachi captain is probably bringing about a positive change in the attitude of Pakistani cricketers. Bangladesh could do with a player like Sarfraz Ahmed.
