Default Match Thread: BD A vs ZIM A: 3rd Test

3rd test will start on February 25. This one will be a real test for our youngstars because some of the rebel players may play this test.

Default Awesome!!!

This is great. Our boys have proven that they are superior the Zimb A side that they have played in the first two "tests" and it great that they are getting a chance to take on some of the big boys. Actually, if these three do play, along with Blignaut who I think is playing, the four of them will make the Zimb A team atleast as strong as the one that came to Bangladesh and is on tour right now in South Africa!

Ray Price has now been added to it as well. So thats possibly Streak, Carlisle, Gripper, Price and Blignaut against us tomorrow!

Possible BD team:

Roquibul Hasan
Shahriar Nafees
Tushar Imran
Shamsur Rahman
Mahmudullah Riyad
Saquibul Hasan
Mushfiqur Rahim
Syed Rassell
Shahadat Hussain
Enamul Huque
Shafaq Al Zabir

That leaves out Dhiman, Sanwar, Waseluddin and Sharif.

If Sanwar is fit then I like to see how he performs against Zimbabwe. He should get at least one chance! Who should be dropped then? I am not sure .. Probably Shamsur Rahman ... just to let him know his place in the team depends on his performance!

Yeah I had thought of that as well. But decided on Shamsur because he will probably benefit more out of playing this match than will Sanwar. Sanwar is a decent batsman but I don't see him making it back into the Test side, so its better to give Shamsur another go, even though he has performed well below expectation.

I agree with Sham because Sanwar got many chances before. He could not perform. It will be better if Samsur get chance. These youngstars need to play more fast class matches.

Shamsur Rahman is in this BD 'A' team? I totally forgot about him. Just goes to show how quickly we tend to forget up & coming players if they don't perform.

I think he's struggling to adjust to the conditions in Zimbabwe - movement, pace bowlers getting more help from the pitch etc.

The coach had said that Enamul was being rested during the second 'test' as a precautionary measure. I don't think there was any mention of him not playing any further part on this tour. I think he will play tomorrow!

This is great news! This should give us a good idea of how good our upcoming players actually are! If the rebels actually do play, this is the strongest selection our A-team players have ever played, barring sanuar and enamul jnr.

BBC report sounds the rebels will play in one-day matches not in the 3rd test (except Blignaut).

Shamsur Rahman should get the most exposure down there in Zimbabwe but I would be dissapointed if the selectors are eyeing him for a test debut that soon.

Looks like Sharif is coming empty handed out of this tour. So much expectation, played pretty well upon comeback in domestic, but at the end he is not likely to make it to the national side....

if the rebel plays we definety wont win this game, makr my words, even the current BD team will sturglle against a fully strong Zim side, that was shwon by thier wins in the tests last year before the strike happens

yes, rebels are back. Streak and Carlisle were definitely world class who could score big against any teams. Not sure though, if they are in form though after a prolonged absense.

Streak, Gripper, Price and Carlisle to return?

Rebels set for dramatic comeback?

Cricinfo staff

February 24, 2005

Cricinfo has learnt that four of Zimbabwe's rebels - Heath Streak, Stuart Carlisle, Ray Price and Trevor Gripper – are on the verge of making a dramatic comeback.

It seems that talks aimed at brokering a deal to bring the remaining striking players back into the fold have progressed well, and the four could well travel to Kwekwe overnight to play in the final A-team Test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. If they do play, then it is quite likely that one or more of them will be drafted into the squad already in South Africa.

A spokesman for Zimbabwe Cricket said that negotiations were still ongoing and, therefore, it would be premature to comment.

It would seem that the main stumbling block in the way of a settlement - the criteria under which selectors are chosen - has been overcome, and it is thought that Zimbabwe Cricket has agreed to review this. That could mean that Max Ebrahim, the head of selectors and the man identified by the rebels as being the main source of contention, would step down.

All four rebels have been playing local cricket, and so while they might be lacking first-class practice, all of them are thought to be ready to resume straight away.

If all the ZIM rebel players come back....it would be nice to see how our young chaps welcome them back to international cricket!! I hope BD-A will still dominate the proceedings.
