Default 4 Day Matches in DPL Could Help

Our first class cricket structure is always below standard. The BCB officials never put NCL as a priority and put club cricket ahead of the only first class cricket tournament of the country. There has been a lot of discussion to improve the situation however it never happened. Now BCB is interested to arrange BPL, a T20 tournament; which (if come to reality) will lower the priority of NCL further.

As the BCB bosses are also administrators of different clubs; they always look for petty club interest. Had there been a tournament of 4 day matches between the top clubs; our cricketers would get a chance to participate a serious competition longer version cricket.

Usually the clubs are keen to involve the national team member in their matches. So it will be unlikely for the national team members not to participate in any longer version matches in 14 months.

Ideally, BCB should focus on improving the standards of NCL but as it didn’t happen in last 10 years; this could be a parallel initiative to prepare the players for test cricket.

There might be a DPL of 4-day games this year. There was an interview of CCDM President on PA 1/2 months ago, where he said they are trying to figure out a format and fixture.

At least they are trying for it (or just for the interview?).

That would definitely help. They need to make one level 3 coach mandatory for each team.

Without proper coaches at the club level, we won't lift the standards much higher to reap the full benefits. Our problem is skill and we need to have a constant pressure on the players at the club level, to improve.

If DPL fail to arrange a 4 day tournament, arranging a 100 over two day game is a very good idea. Now arranging a longer version match is a must for DPL committee.

its decided that 8 teams will play the NCL and we must play a two round of home and away so that each teams at least play 14 games.

all the national players should play the full competition. and the quality of pitches have to be improved. also all the NCL teams should be equipped with stadium, academies and coaching staffs. introduction of franchises could be an option.

also NCL ODI and NCL T20 should be played regulalry

now comes DPL, will there be enough time for DPL after the three NCL competetions, may be only ODI's can be played. or the the introduction of 2-day games could be an option.

anyway we need to introduce longer version games in school level or age level tournaments.

We need to introduce foreign players in NCL (I am not sure if there is any option for this now). Each team would be able to register 4 foreign players while 2 can play per game. This would make the competition must better.

i would prefer quality pace bowlers as foreigners. that will give our batsman at least some quality bowling to play against. also local pacers playing alongside can see how they bowl and learn.

I have doubt about bringing pacers from England or Australia for the whole season. But Pakistan, Afganistan and SA is a good choice as they are cheap and good enough. ( Yes you read it, I wrote the name of Afganistan ).

Quality coaching staff, good management andquality foreign players will be the key.

I really like the idea of franchise. Think if we could get GP, BL, Robi, Top Banks, Top industrial groups to buy the FC teams and mentor them....what wonderful impact could it make!!!
