Default A comparison: Riad vs Naeem

Back in 2010-11, both Riad and Naeem were similar player

Decent fielders.
Lower order batsman neither effective
Part time spinners

Now in 2018 lets see:
Riad has 3 centuries in ICC event. Regular in ODI and T20I. Leading our test side. Big player in BPL, MOT in BPL 2016, played in CPL and PSL. Regular captains throughout the season

Naeem: performing only in DPL and NCL, not picked in BPL 2017, in BPL 2015 and 2016 he played and was pretty useless.

This just goes to show what a big difference there is in your career if you take firm control of your oppurtunities. Now Naeem Islam was complaining about not being picked in BPL this year but last two seasons he was just poor. Heck he has negligible performances in BPL, I doubt he ever scored a 50 even LOL.

IMO, Naeem vs Riyad is a story of mismanagement of players. Riyad should have been groomed as an LOI specialist, while Naeem as a Test specialist. It's ridiculous that Riyad is now a Test team regular because of his LOI exploits, and Naeem is out of all teams because of his shortcomings in shorter formats.

Naeem's shot playing reminds me of Van Gogh, while Riyad is more on the Gaugin "Where do we come from where the f are we going" type...

Naeem is one unlucky fella, the last test series he played he had a century.
