The College Thread (Higher Education)
Well Im starting University in a week's time, I'll be going to the University of Leicester to study chemistry (with masters). Im moving away, but will only be two hours away from home, so I'll be back home on most weekends.
But anyways I'm making this thread for all BCers, to share their past experiences on campus life, give advice on those who are planning to go to University (like things to take), for BCers sharing their future educational interests, and for present students giving their perspectives
Also dont be shy in revealing any outrageous stories
(BC rules permitting)

Well, one thing that anybody should take during a moving is toilet paper or, if you do thinks bangla way, a bodna. Trust me, it is more important than people realize.

My friend is in his second year, he found differentiation back-breaking in his course, you'd be surprised how complicated the functions can become

You dont have to go far from home for a great college experience. Upstate NY is where great colleges abound: Vassar, Cornell, Bard, Hamilton College, Colgate University, Rochester Instt. Tech, Syracuse University, Ithaca College, and so many more.

In the UK, some students do not stay at their high school for the last two years before higher education (as education is only compulsory until 16), they go to specialist schools for these people who are 16-18, which are called sixth form colleges

Yes. But please focus on your grades, then college success will follow.

True and make sure you wear it right. Most break because of not wearing them properly, not because they are made badly.

Alarm clock!! old fashioned one battery operated. Make sure you do not schedule any 8am classes.
On campus job is a must. Library, computer lab, cafeteria, maintenance anything would do. These should keep some of you out of trouble to certain extent.
Get a chinese room-mate (mainland china and not the taiwanese kind). You'll get money saving training for no cost.

Actually it varies person to person, for me their isn't a big difference as I'm not leaving home (although I have to go UK for my final year), but for those who have to stay in the uni campus or leave home will find a lot of differences. The most important thing that you'll be missing in your uni life is your childhood friends, the ones who were there with you from the beginning of your school life to the end of your college life. Other than those there are many more differences you will find as you continue with your uni life.

Thanks guys. I wanna go to college somewhere in NY or around here or go back to NYC probably in Columbia University. But that's still a little less than 4 years so I'll have to wait.
