Default ICC - Cricket rules changes: Oct 1st

I welcome all the changes.

LAWS OF CRICKET 2017 CODE:

1. Umpires can reward opposing team 5 runs or remove players for few overs or remainder of the game for excessive appeal, misbehavior etc. (4 levels of players misbehavior) (Time outs)

2. In review, were the decision is "umpire's call", you don't lose the review.
3. BAT SIZE: No bat can have edges more than 40mm. and thickness/depth of more than 67mm. Max width remains unchanged of 108mm.

4. BAT GROUNDED: Batsman will not be judged runout if he had grounded but when the bail was dislodged when the bat was in the air.

Well number 4 is a skill, from school level you are taught to keep your bat grounded, it requires skill and concentration to slide your bat in, rather than plonk it down

It is a gentleman's game (entertainment) and not life and death.

Anger can not lead to anything good. The players plays with passion but there should a line that don't need to be crossed. As long as the desi umpires apply the law ...on Ricky Ponting Jr. wanna bes, it should okay.

Change to No.4 is nonsense. Takes away the drama/fun.

Fans often hope that bat isn't grounded.. if your supporting the bowling side!
And grounded if your supporting the batting side.

Just to silly for my liking.. pretty sure there will be roar about this rule change when batsman cross the line but bat not grounded..

This law might also serves the mightier once...umpires might motivated to hand over the match to the proffered one (the stronger elite teams) by timing out the weaker team (in cricket diplomacy) player ...

Number 4 was definitely needed. Its just unfair imo for the batsmen to ground the bat and in the process of sliding the bat goes up. This is a great change!

This is just asking for trouble. Could you imagine if a game was decided because the umpire decided to award 5 runs? Imagine if the world cup finals was awarded this way. Cricket already has a terrible reputation as far as match fixing is concerned, and now they are making it easier. And we all know that no umpire would ever use this against Ind/Eng/Aus. Unbelievable.

You are absolutely correct. The potential of a huge chaos is there. Any type of finals are contested with highly edged players. However, Stokes-Samuals like behavior has no ground in any type of situations. Umpires have more power now.

It is more like technical foul on a basketball game. The team retains the ball as well.
