Zimbabwe World Cup 2015 Support Thread
Arguably, they have been our rivals since admission to test status, and we registered our first odi and test victory over them after test status, which tells you something of our closest competitors. But there is one very strong distinction, unlike Aus-Eng rivalry, or Indo-Pak, this is a different rivalry and more of a friendly one. I don't know how Zimbos feel about us, but am sure most of us want them to do well.
They are 256-3 as i write this vs lions past their virility, and this performance must be incredible boost for us as well. All the best to our African counterparts in cricket, with whom we are always labelled the 'm' word together in a pair. But this time, let's rise together and change the status quo this World Cup. Much love from !!

Zim's about to beat SL comfortably. They would've won vs NZ too if it didn't get washed. Dev is doing wonders for them in a short time! Happy for them. BD-Zim-Irl-Afg should build their own little rivalry and close the gap on NZ-WI-SL. Hopefully Nepal can come up as well. Unlike Eng-Aus, Ind-Pak, I don't think we get upset by each others success (not as much AFG). Which says it's just a friendly rivalry, nothing hateful.

In sha Allah, we will be overtaking Windies, Pak, SL before next World Cup by the look of things. And if things turn out miraculously for us this World Cup, we might as well see ourselves enter a safe zone within 'top 8' by next year itself....Let's see.

This team deserves all the good things! they've gone through way too many bad things in the past.. Hope time has come for all the good things to go their way. Good Luck to our biggest rivals.

Seriously hope they make it to the quarters, dyaamm. Just thinking about it now. NZ, one of the favs, which today is crushing the proteas, were in tatters vs zimbos at 157/7. And today, the disintegrating lankans with the likes of jaya, mahela, malinga well past their prime has been put in place by zimbabwe.
Doesn't sound crazy anymore, they can prolly even make semis....let us not forget they have got some really experienced players like taylor, masakadza, chigumbura, with the fresh talents of like of mire, and the african-genes type athletic skills....Go and get em! Its all their for the taking brothars..!!

Dev just doing his thing. Once again proving that he's a great motivator. We had more success w/ far less talent under him.
Loved hearing him during Zim series. He was fresh. Was looking forward to hearing him at the WC. Hope he can take Zim to the QF, it'd just as good.

Do big things ZImbabwe. Hang India to dry, just like Olonga used to do back in the days.

Been dreaming of that for the last 10 years.
But like Graeme Smith said, we seem to be going nowhere!

So dream now. Anyways, doesn't matter whether we dream or not, but telling what's likely.
Bangladesh qualifying for FIFA WC - Now that's what I call pure dreaming. Not for above.

^ And forgot to add, we've broken into top 8 twice before. Against West Indies and against New Zealand. That is why we are seeded earlier before NZ in group B, courtesy of our rankings. But as they say, success is an event rather than a process. So we may have to wait slightly more before we enter and stay there for longer periods. And this is happening.

Williams is like Shakib in Zim team. He is their best player imho. Having him back is a grear boost for Zim.

A strong performance from ZIM will help to strengthen the context of our 8-0 over them. Similar to the 4-0 NZ whitewash - at the time NZ were s**t - but just 4 months later they pummeled SA at Dhaka to make it WC semis. That series proved we could be competitive against top sides at home.

With Bangladesh it wasnt about ability but more about application and tactics. We fail in crucial situations not because we lack talent but because we fail to read the match situation or our captain fails to seize on an opportunity when the opposition is down. As we proved in bd.. we can get 320 odd against a Pakistan attack or reduce Sri Lanka to 80/8 only to let the match slip away. I hope we really get our heads right in this tournament and read the game better because there is no shortage of talent in any of the 15 individuals we picked.

This Zim team is very different than the one came to BD. For starters they have S Williams. He is their Shakib. That brings balance in to their lineup. Plus the coach who is influencing the right way.
After BD, I would support UAE, then Zimbabwe in this WC. Next in line would be the Scots and then Ireland.

Next Shakib? TE I don't get you at all.
Kun duniya te next Shakib? Shakib is #1 all rounder in the world. Williams is not even #10 in ODIs (hasn't played enough tests). Has played ~100 int'l innings and has 0 centuries. Abul Hasan has 1 from 10 innings. If #11 or worse is their #1 then you have to admit Mushfiq is our Kohli.

Shakib most valuable player for BD.
SW most valuable player for Zim. Oi Sense'a. Grrrr!!!
"their" Shakib. Not World's Shakib. Didn't wanted to use the "poorman's" word.

Congrats Zimbabwe! Clinical and job well done! Just don't want them to do too well (better than us) and become an obstacle on our way to top 8

Looks like ICC is right in reducing the world cup to 10 teams. No one opened a world cup day 2 thread for zimbabwe. Anyways, let this thread fire away. Zim with a good start dismissing Kock early. Man, if they win this, they would be playing like real favourites based on the last 2 practice matches they played as well
