Default Groom Rajin Saleh to become team captain

Rajin Saleh was the most successful Bangladeshi player in the recently concluded Pakistan cricket tour. At the age of 20, he showed his maturity, determination, patience, stamina and excellent stroke play in his Test and ODI debut series. Besides being an excellent batsman, he is a tough athletic fielder and a successful occasional bowler.
If injury is avoided, he would have 15-16 years to play cricket at top international levels.

I suggest to include Rajin Saleh in the shortlist of the players expected to be the captain of the Bangladesh team in the next World Cup 2007, as Grahme Smith of South Africa was made captain at the age of 22. He then can get enough time to get familiar with players of the World Cup circle.

I like to quote what Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja said: "Kapil Paaji once told me 'work hard, be sincere and don't worry about the rest'. That perhaps sums up everything. You can fool others, but not yourself".

My advice for Rajin: please handle your success wisely, both on and off the field. Welcom back home, Rajin, and good luck for the coming home series against England.

Wow! And I thought you (Chinaman) was saying this.

I say that it is too early to tell - but once we see Rajin's performance against other oppositions like England, Zimbabwe, Kenya and then other stronger sides (at least see him for one full season on pitches outside the sub-continent) then he can certainly be one of the 2 candidates for captancy - just like Alok is.

If 2007 then i support with your thought.Rajin saleh is really a great hero after Pakistan Tour.He proved his talent in Pakstan both oneday and test.So he should deserv for his captaincy in the world cup of 2007.

But this far future.

Its too early..really! All in good time...a little more maturity and some solid experience combined with his fighting spirit and determination and we may have a fire-brand!

Very bad idea. This guy just had one good opening. Don't even mention captency around him. Don't destroy the most promissing batsman of Bangladesh.

Right said. He is only 20 now. We all ready have our eyes set on Alok Kapali as our future captain (in a few years). All these captaincy talks might put unnecessary pressure on Rajin (if he visits banglacricket.com forum, that is).

huh? when there were 4 divisions? if so it was a very long time ago, strange that crickinfo would even remember that. would be much more arcane than spelling dhaka dacca as it used to be. must just be a typo?

Default Actually rafiq bhai

The following might clarify:

Change history:
1983: Name of capital of country, and its division, changed from Dacca to Dhaka.
~1993: Barisal division split from Khulna.
~1998: Sylhet division split from Chittagong.
