Pakistan bars cricketers from IPL : Potential opportunity for Bangladesh players?
Quote:
Pakistan has barred its cricketers from competing in the Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament in the wake of last year's terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
"We have been informed by the foreign ministry today that the situation is not conducive for Pakistan cricketers to travel to India," Sports Minister Aftab Jilani told the Associated Press on Monday.
Jilani last week gave a No Objection Certificate allowing Pakistan cricketers to compete in the IPL.
Five Pakistan cricketers _ Yasir Hameed, Yasir Arafat, Asim Kamal, Danish Kaneria and Mohammad Hafeez _ were due to appear in the IPL player auction at the Indian state of Goa on Feb. 10.
"We (the Sports Ministry) had given the NOC, but the final decision was up to the government," Jilani said.
The minister said that one of the reasons given by the Pakistan's foreign ministry for the ban was that relations between India and Pakistan are tense in the wake of the terrorist November attacks in the Indian city of Mumbai.

Does it open doors for Bangladeshi cricketers? Or the places will be takes up by the Asussies and English cricketers?
I hope at least Masri and Ash gets a team in additiion to Shakib.

What about the existing Pakistani Cricketers already have contract with IPL- like Sohail Tanveer, Afridi, Malik, Younus, Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Kamran Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq?
I think they can't play in IPL also....then what about their contract? How to fill the vacuums with the players with existing contract? A bigger door for Bangladesh can open here also if teams in IPL who has contract with Pakistani players allowed to sign more then 10 foreign players.

What is wrong with those people ? Wasn't it two days back they official gave permission for the Pakistan players to appear in IPL ?
That probably means the end of Pakistani participation in ICL also.

I think losing the right to host the Champions Trophy is one of the main reasons behind this U-turn. According to Pakistan media reports PCB didn't receive support from BCCI on this issue.

personally I don't want to see those ICLers in BD team .... every league should talk to the respective board before signing the players ...

English and Australian players will be picked and rightly so. Once Ash can bring his average up to 30 he may have a claim. Mash should be in with his current form.

It was the PCB that granted the players the NOC but ultimately the Pakistan foreign ministry gets the final say and they believe in the current political climate it is not safe for their players to be in India, which according to me is very understandable.

I think all four of them will get in. Pakistani government will not let their players play in the IPL that means clubs will be looking to buy more players to re-fill their squads. So instead of each club looking for 2 players they will now look to buy 3-4 players from this auction. So hopefully around 20-24 players will be signed and I think all four of them are good enough to be in the Top 24. Shakib is certain to get in and the other 3s cheap price tag will work in their favour.

I posted this on another thread but I think it is more suitable here.

It creates opportunity to no name Aussies. When you saw Ash is valued more than Mash than you would know how much homework they done for Bangladesh. I have doubt whether even Sakib would be picked (BTW it would not make me unhappy; I would rather Sakib plays in Sydney Grade Cricket or top tier of Lancashire league than IPL)

You guys reckon we have a chance against Pakistan as our guys will be fresh from all the T20 action (if they get a couple of games, that is)?

Current Pakistani players will be replaced by other foreign players at IPL, after the current auction (it means, more players would be included rather than 15/16)
Bangalore will replace...........Misbah-ul-huq
Deccan Chargers will replace...Shahid Afridi
Delhi will replace.................Mohammad Asif and Soaib Malik
Kolkata will replace..............Mohammad Hafiz, Salman Butt, Shoaib Akhtar and Umar Gul
Rajasthan will replace...........Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir and Younis Khan
So, 11 more players will be replaced.......better chances for BD players!!

But that increases the chance of picking more youngstars from Aus
That also speak of the abilities of aus new boys. Specially if they can get some of the better performers.

not bad, even tho i would have loved to see the paki s in IPL, but i think PCB is just returning BCCI's ''favor'' but this is not good for cricket, may be good for BD players but not good for cricket. Lets hope we see Indo-pak matches in near future[no matter how much aussie/english cries, indo-pak is the best rivalry in cricekt]\
any hoo, best of luck fr BD players, go rule IPL and show how much u r really worth

Considering current form of Oz players, I don't think aussies will be as big a hit as they were last time around. I think this time IPL management will look to pick local talent, after Rajsthan Royales' performance.
