Default Khaled Mahmud Sujon new captain

Channel I news headline says that Sujon is our new captain.

I guess the 2 year left by Akram Khan has certainly been taken into consideration.

Thats a great news...I always wanted him to become after Khaled Masud as he is a fighter....I think he won't do the same mistakes as Masud specially with the bowling rotation

Default Before we start congratulating anybody...

...let's wait and see what this guy does. Does he have the confidence of the players? Is he captain material? Does he have the learning-potential to become a good captain? There are countless questions that need to be answered before we start jubilations in the street.

Default Congrats to Sujon

I'm sure he'll do a great job and possibly bring BD cricket back to the days of Saber Choudhary

well....this took me by surprise. i think its a reasonable decision by BCB. I suport this decision. Chosing any ex-captain would mean bringing on a lot of baggage and history - thats a good thing to avoid.

The only problem i have is that Mahmud is nothing more than a bits and pieces cricketer. So if his place in the team gets questioned, then his captaincy is in deep trouble.

Default Shujan ke congrats

Hopefully he will get to mix what Pilot and Durjoy failed to do -
Pilot did great individually but had little idea about leading his men in the game.
Durjoy failed mostly onfield. His captaincy was anything special either.

Let's hope Shujon gets to perform lik Pilot (with a higher degree 30+ instead of 20's and keep on taking wickets while learning to lead with every match.

Hopefully we'll see what he is made of after a few matches. Hope, nobody starts to judge him based on only a few matches. That would simply be unfair to him.

YUP!!! I believe that is the main reason why Pilot was the captain for so long. Not because he has the quality but because his place in the team was guraanteed!! He just turned out to be one of those guys who perform well under pressure - that's all - Nothing much!!
Don't know how long Mahmud will be on the team? I think fwuallah once mentioned that we need a young vice captain. I think she is right!! Who is the current vice captain anyway?

Default Congratulations to Sujon

Now that the BCB has selected a new captain, we ought to give him our full support and hope that he does a good job. I agree with Piranha, atleast in Test Matches, Sujon's place is not guaranteed, but we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Pilot's. But it's not a question of whose place is guaranteed, it is just that it is difficult to put Sujon into the Test side. Do you put him in as a batsman and play a specialist batsman short, or as a bowler and play a specialist bowler short?

What I am hoping is that Sujon will do well with the bat so that he justifies batting at number 6. That will be ideal. It isn't that difficult. Our batting is so rubbish anyway that if Sujon can be counted on to score 30 to 40 runs everytime he bats, he can bat at number 6. This will allow us to have Pilot at 7 and 4 specialist bowlers. If Sujon does not do well with the bat and we have to pick 6 batsmen plus Sujon and Pilot, we will have to play Test matches with three specialist bowlers. I don't like that idea at all.
