Test XI vs. South Africa

It was very difficult to come up with a solid XI for the first test.

Here is my XI:

1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Soumya Sarkar
3. Imrul Kayes
4. Mominul Haque
5. Mushfiqur Rahim
6. Sabbir Rahman
7. Mahmudullah Riyad
8. Mehedi Hasan Miraz
9. Taskin Ahmed
10. Subashis Roy
11. Mustafizur Rahman

Weakness: No genuine fifth bowler. Have to use Mahmudullah and Soumya as part timers to cover for the fifth bowler. This is the best XI I could come up with.

What do you guys think? what would your XI be?

^^ I would go with same XI (Rubel, Shafiul, Taijul, Liton are passengers in the team anyway), except I would let Tamim-Imrul open, and Soumya at one down.

I'd drop Sarker, and bring on an extra bowler. Tamim-Imrul combo is the best. We're not going to win anyway, so might as well take a chance, and go with an extra bowler because you never know in the game of cricket. Wickets are important in test cricket.

Agreed. Although Taijul has been critical in our home Tests.

Riyad is good enough to be a 5th bowler option. Soumya should not be bowling at this level.

Not gonna play Miraz for the sake of playing him. He will struggle in these conditions. And the thing with Miraz is.. He is either on a roll or he is getting smacked everywhere. SA in the past have shown weakness against SLAs so I want Taijul to play. Plus Riyad is there as an offie option. I know you guys won't agree with Miraz out... But that's how I would do it. If Shak was here, then Miraz could've been an auto choice.

Looking at how SA outplayed SL in SA's last home series and the way BD played in the Practice Matches, i expect BD will lose both test matches by big margins. I don't expect anyof the test matches to go till Day 5 unless it rains. 3 to 4 of our batsmen will hit 50s in the test series but will not be enough to avoid heavy defeats.

Point taken.....but now sakib isn't here... it might change the ploy of bd batting...musfiq and tamim knows that along with youngsters..

Mehedi needs to play as he needs to do the all rounder leg work, this one tail starts at 8, that's way too big, taskin is a decent 10 maybe a 9, same with Taijul, but others are 11.

We need Mehedi to average 30 with the bat

So I actually feel completely opposite, because Shakib is out Mehedi needs to play in my opinion

Yes I also want to see more of Mehedi. His batting is slowly improving. He need more exposure.

However I have to say Taijul deserve some kudos for his performance in last series. As a fielder, amazing improvement. Bolwing wise he was sligtly better than his past.
