Default BCB Media - ‘In this version we are still developing’: Tamim Iqbal

Sunday, 23 September 2012

KANDY - Opening Batsman Tamim Iqbal talks about Bangladesh’s match against Pakistan:

Whether the team has overcome the disappointment from the opening match loss

We realise that we were below par in all departments and that’s why we lost. I think in Twenty20 cricket Bangladesh are a developing team. We do not have that much experience in this version and therefore at times there will be bad results. But now we have started playing T20s more regularly and you will see a definite improvement in a year or two. Hopefully, there will be positive performance in the next match against Pakistan because everyone is making a conscious effort to lift the game.

Pakistan’s formidable line up

Yes, they are world class in all sectors and they have Twenty20 pedigree in abundance. However, no team is unbeatable in this format. We have to be at our best and hope that best is good enough on the day.

Facing Saeed Ajmal

For a batsman he provides a fascinating challenge and I am really looking forward to facing him.

All I'm hearing is we're not good enough, we can't and won't win jack and a bunch of excuses. They've given up and are ready to come home. Pathetic, gutless bunch of sissies. Should be ashamed of themselves. Ban them from opening their mouths BCB!

NOT only this version...we are developing in ALL the three versions

How much more sissiness and how long till we have to tolerate it despite having good facilities and specialist coaches....get a grip you all....and start playing like tigers rather than surrendering...even Afghanistan/Ireland have been playing better t20s

This is utter sissiness. This is one format we realistically could compete with the big guys. But instead these guys are already intimidated by the stature of the other team players.

Some serious inquiries needs to be made after this messy debacle. We have used this pathetic excuse for far too long.

Just wait till BCB decides to form a 'todonto committee' and do some 'todonto'. Surprisingly we never get to hear the details of these so called 'todonto'.

Now they are just trying to piss us off, off the field too. If he was here I'd have slapped Tamim Iqbal Khan across his face and floor him. And I'd have slapped him for hard that Rahim would've wet his pants.

Don't have much experience, still developing. 2 days, TWO FREAKING DAYS ago you guys said it was the best team we've ever sent out, and how preparation was better than any other WC before, how well you guys have prepared.

Honestly just stop playing cricket and find a new profession. This sport is for MEN, not excuse making sizes.

Tamim's just been reading your posts, bro

Honestly, I don't see anything factually incorrect with what he said. We aren't good enough, and we can't be winning jack...in this format, at least. Back in the halcyon days of Ashraful-Aftab we all thought T20 was a sloggers game and that we'd naturally be a top side with our crease occupational allergies being well suited for the format. But that hasn't turned out to be the case. Otherwise batsman like Afridi and Sehwag would be top batsman in this format.

That NZ game was the expose. That was the game to judge where we're at. We had no plan. From reading the pitch, to making the wrong toss decision, to bowling, to fielding, to batting. Can't blame the coach apart from maybe the toss decision if it was indeed scripted. But it was more than just not planning well. We lack the ability.

Not one of our batsman could play the innings that McCullum played. Are our batsman inherently not good enough? I don't think so, but only in a "classical" sense. By the same token VVS Laxman couldn't have played such an innings and he's a far greater batsman than BBM will ever be.

But back to the NZ game. McCullum played a chanceless knock - a single drop when on 92 in a T20 is chanceless - he found the gaps for boundaries at will. Gayle could have done the same thing. Kohli could have done the same thing. Umar Akmal could have done it. Maybe its a mental block, but none of our batters could do that, in this format. Shakib can and has done it in ODIs. Ash used to do it way back when. Tamim once blasted against England and Rahim has finished some games off at the death. They are all capable...in ODIs. But in T20 there is absolutely no time to settle in, for bowlers or for batsman. Maybe in two years we'll figure it out. But then again we hardly play internationals against top sides so maybe not.

Our bowlers also...we have a spin-centric attack and got no assistance form the pitch. Fair enough. But there was no plan to the bowling. On top of that fielders conceded overthrows, drops, and fumbles.

Petty liars. They'll say whatever they think the media/fans want to hear.

NZ may have lost to Pakistan today but I couldn't help but admire how Southee tried to bowl to a plan (i.e. bowl wide of offstump) to negate the strokes and slogs Umar Akmal & Co. He did that for one over and after Umar imploded, he started bowling at the stumps again. How is it that we can't do that?!

I really thought after massively failed last Zim tour, this would 've been on affect. Had them a lesson; but IMO Shakib-Tamim-Nasir all shows very low level professionalism in front of mic.

You need a new icon for this... Axx Palm..

As if we are any good in any other formats... We are equally bad in every format. Because our guys lack basics and then all are Fakibazz... They take time to chase a ball, they assess first if there is any chance of getting it... They behave like ducks in the field and also with bat... Poor running, poor in execution... I have watched them play after a long time in the stadium... By god, you can feel the difference even before the match starts.., they even take bhab and don't do a sincere warm up before the match... All the buggers were busy looking at the spectators and smiling etc...they feel so elevated that people are here to cheer for them... While NZ players were busy with tough warming up routines... Dhaet... Ei bulshit non professional Chagall gular upor bhorosha koira eto shomoy noshto kora ekdom bokami.... Let them have the basics of a professional player first... Then Performance will follow...

Kahini pura buijha gesi bhai... Ekebare betal oboshor e eigulare follow kora jaye..ei B gular Beton 90% minus koira dewa uchit.. Except a couple of them... World class hoile world class Breton, naile they should be happy with pocket money to learn cricket and attitude of a pro athlete free of cost.

Eigular fan maney Pura ta e Akaam...
