is it possible to make a petition (subject: remove shamim chowdhury as a Bangladeshi commentator)?
is it possible to make a petition and submit it to the proper authority?

I do not like him. Not because he is Kufa or his accent.
He does not have good understanding about cricket to be a commentator at this level. It is good not to represent in the box, rather a guy with poor knowledge like Shamim.

this guy is a disgrace, he showed time after time that he is not the right person for the job. i am not kidding, i want to sign a petition and submit it to the proper authority. one sign up will not do any good probably, we need a lot of people to sign.

Who you want to replace him with??
God!! some ppl are never happy with what they got!!
Atleast there is a Bangladeshi on that commie box.
We've got only 2 persons who represents us, him and Atahar.
They might not be perfect, but they are what we've got.
As long as we dont find the replacements, i guess we have to work with this two.

i do not have a single problem with athar ali khan, this guy is honest in whatever he says. shamim is 100% faggot.
i would rather not have a bangladeshi commentator in the box rather than having shamim chowdhury.
are you saying we do not have anyone other than shamim chowdhury?

Or, even swap him with Shamim Miah of BC. I never believed in these things but this guy is too 'kufa' a person to be in the commentary box.

he only knows good english.
well they all started for radio bangladesh and btv as football commentators. khodobox, jaforullah and others. shamim was the english specialist. later they also ran commentary for cricket in btv and radio bangladesh.
thats where they belong to. not international cricket

His attitude in commentary box is like Rajakars of 71. Perfect chamchagiri.

If the players play this way, Shamim, Atahar, Nadim98, T_E, Wasi can not do anything. You get what you reap.
There is no such thing called "kufa".

Can the thread opener give some examples why you don't like him?
This is a personal opinion and don't count unless you can give us some facts to back up your personal preferences? Is he is not white enough for your liking?
Does he mislead viewers and listeners? Need some facts...

Shamim's job in the commentary box is not to shower our cricketers with praise neither is it to defend their actions. As far as I can see he has done a fine job. Athar is a terrible commentator and Shamim definitely is more eloquent and also he says it like he sees it. If calling a spade a spade is a crime, then he is guilty as charged. I would also like to hear some specific instances which you are complaining about.

I think NZ made petition to get Shamim rather than getting Athar. NZ petition was sooner than yours. So you lost just like BD is loosing this test.

Come on people, please tell us what he said wrong (or please stop whining).

Having heard his commentary for almost two decades, he's actually gotten better and has his funny moments (how can you not after two decades?) I don't think he is an embarrassment out there, and he holds his own with knowledge of the game. He's just not always the first to make a point.
There are probably lots of people on this board who should consider cricket commentary! As an aside I did a few soccer commentary on my college TV network in the US for big games ...much much harder than writing up the game for the paper afterwards!
As another aside, during the India series, Atahar could be seen giving interviews at halftime while on the air. Sometimes before they got started you'd hear him, Sunny G, etc make comments on sound, mikes, etc, for some reason they never figured out they were on the air. So during the last test did anyone else hear the comments Atahar made about Shamim going to NZ - that Shamim was offering to pay for the flight if the network would use him as the commentator. Thought that was odd, and not sure what it meant.. but it made Shamim sound a bit desperate. Anyway, where's Atahar during this tour - I thought he was there in the T20 and ODIs?

his biggest crime, for which i will never forgive him, was that in bd vs paki post game, he had interviewed paki players in urdu whereas bd players in english....i guess it's okay to interview a player in his native language if he doesn't know english.....but he never translated the questions/answers in either english or bengali for the home crowd...the game was played in dhaka and was broadcasted via btv....

My favorite Atahar line is "he's a dangerous customer".
