Although Dhaka Stadium is no longer involved with cricket, it started as a cricket stadium.

You can see the old DIT Building at the background.

I went to that match with my mom and uncles. Yusuf Babu scored 78 and Nazrul Quadir Lintu took 4. Clark was MCC's captain and they had a good fast bowler named Merry.

Here is some we have on BC itself. All courtesy of Nazim Shirazi, the national cricketer from the early 80s. The words are Nazim's own:

Returning to the Pavilion at tea time on the second day of the un-official match against India which ended in a draw. The other batsman is my cousin Jahangir Shah Badshah. Other BD players are Rafiqual Alam and Hira along with couple of kids who entered the field some how.

Totally forgot to post this picture from 1982 ICC match in England between BD and Bermuda.

Being introduced to Ex-President General Ershad, prior to the first match of the season for Abahani in 1981. Others in the picture from left are; Azam, Tamin, Belal, Hasan Jr. Misha, myself, Dipu and Rafiqul Alam. Also seen in the picture first captain of BD Shamin Kabir, Commodore Mojibur Rahman, the main man currently in charge of the facts finding committee (probe committee) for the WC debacle.

I don't know why but for some reason these old pictures of Dhaka looks very elegant and players and politicians also look well dressed. Dhaka stadium with with spacious parking, players wearing nice team blazers, and politicians with their sunglasses all looks classy. Maybe its the black and white effect. The Dhaka I grew up in and remember is very chaotic, messy, and full of genjams.

Thanks to all for these pics.

^^ Black and White or sepia photos tend to have this nostalgic effect on us. (If not our own memories, we recall the stories that our parents told us about how much cleaner and less congested Dhaka was in the 70s and early 80s.)

Excellent posts in this thread. Thank you all. A must-see for every Bangladeshi cricket fan, especially for those of us who weren't born yet, like Lamisa said. Just hoping that this thread doesn't get buried under the piles over time...
