Shahadat improved Bowling Avg

Before SA match his avg was something like 44 and now have improved to 36, which means that he is now a genunine test cricket bowler. Mashrafe on the other hand have slipped to over 40 avg. So, yes stats do talk.

Golden Boy averaging 12 or is that his age?

yep, shahadat did a really good job dropping his average that much, here's hoping he can drop it further.

It's his strike rate that is quite amazing. It is around 52 which is realy world class. Hopefully he will be able to maintain it throughout his career. Mashrafe and Rafique have strike rates in the 70s and 80s respectively. He is at 49 in the list of all time best strike rate in test cricket which is quite a bit of an achievment considering that this game has been played for around 150 years.

Shahadat's bowling was so good that Masri was unable to even scalp a lower order wicket. That's what Masri's bread and butter has become of late - lower order wickets.

Masri's avg has been going up twice as fast as Bashar's average has been coming down.

Yup, that's why Waqar Younis is the most devastating bowler ever - he stands out like a goliath in that list with a consistency spanning across 87 tests.

i usually wait till the end of a series to publish my WEIR ratings...and will continue to do so. but usually i update them at the end of each match. about to do rajib's (too lazy to do others)...can't wait to see how his rating will jump.

all you stats junkies will have to wait till the end of T2 to find out unless you go back and search for the formulas and do it yourself.

Alas, Shahadat and Junaed are only one man ... their "goodness" is cancelled out by the "badness" of the rest of the team. Even if we have Ponting and Tendulkar on our team, we will lose miserably...

No, because Ponting and Tendulkar would have made a 200+ run partnership in day one of the Test match, and that alone would have been enough to win the match with Rajib's bowling.

Rajib's problems back in the days were his consistency in bowling and his extras. He has vastly improved in both those areas and he has bowled much better line and lentgh throught the first Test match. Now imagine how he'll bowl when he gets favorable pace conditions in England or Australia. Pieterson and Ponting will have to watch out.
