is Tamim injured or Unfit? Why soumya.. why not Shabbir? anyways I am happy for any youngester getting a opportunity before the T20 world cup. I really wish BCB can arrange A team match's against West Indies A team, England Lion etc in Bangladesh and select young players only for T20 before the world cup.

Strange, thought if they called on anyone new it would have been shabbir.

SS is an understudy.
The team is basically settled, just giving the youngster the feel of things.

maybe telling shamsur or moreso anamul to work hard and improve otherwise we've got someone in line to take your spot. in any event t20 isn't a bad place to experiment since in this format BD have nothing to lose and haven't found a good combination for this format yet. but a surprise shabbir isn't in the squad.

me to, SS also bowls some pace so offers a bit of bowling just like zia but offers more with the bat.

but where do you play him?, SS is an opener..if tamim plays he is auto pick..and with Samsu playing well he is also a great contender, and Anamul's last T20 match was good also..he got out for 20 but it was a flying start..it wont be fair to pick SS over Samsu and Anamul

Its very good move. Giving the Kiwis something to think about since they have no idea about Soumya. Not only he is a batsmen, Soumya is very useful seamer. He is not fussed about opening or batting middle order.

Its good to give future players the feel of national camp, T-20 is good place to start. And if I am not mistaken Nasir was included couple of time just as back up player before he was included in full squad. It gave him the confident and hunger to succeed.

He's batted in the middle and lower order a bit as well, agree he shouldn't be played ahead of shamsur or anamul.

Good to see Soumya making it. I actually forgot about him but ya as others are saying, unlike all our other all rounders, he's a pace all rounder. He's also a player that's flexible and can move anywhere up and down the order. I think it's also very important we continue to develop pace all rounders for the 2015 WC since we're likely going to play 3 pacers there since 2 would not be enough. So we need a capable pace all rounder. And of course not to mention for this WC as well.

On the other hand, I wish they brought Shabbir in. It's not only the stats but his approach for T20Is that made me think that we need a player like him. He gets his eye in from ball 1 unlike Riyad, Naeem, and to a lesser extent Mominul and when set he can really launch an attack which I haven't seen from the others.

Anyways no point talking about it anymore, what's done is done. Looks like we'll play the same lineup as the last match. Let's hope they all perform.

Here's Sumaiya's Cricinfo profile:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/canada/c...er/436677.html

Overall, stats don't look very compelling, but haven't watched him play at all and the Cricinfo stats don't include youth games and DPL matches before this season. Will be surprised if he gets into the XI for the T20, but it's good to see they are looking at options. Wonder where they plan on playing him in the long run. Looking forward to watching him play, even if it's late next year.

There was time when I wouldn't trust the selectors. But based on recent moves, I really started trusting selectors (including head coach), they are more agressivelky looking for new talent and makeing the right decisions.

So why this player and not that player? As fan it's good to raise those questions, but at the end I started trusting more what they are selecting....becuase they know more about these player's development than us..... So yes I support Sumaya's inclusion... and eagerly waiting how they plan to use him. For example the plan may be, he will not play, but to get him exposed to the national team environment so that he can be prepared for the future.

Are you guys sure he is a pacer? Don't believe everything written on CI cause if my memory serves me right I saw him bowling SLA in BPL for Dhaka Gladiators, can't tell for sure though, would be great if anyone who has seen him bowl can confirm.

Looks like the change of selector attitude coincided with the exit of Akram Khan. Coincidence?

Glad he's on the radar. I'm a firm belieer of throwing talnted youngins to the wolves and finding out who has it and who doesn't. So far it appears as Anamul doesn't quite have it yet. Best of luck to Soumya, we need a solid opener next to Tamim for all formats and I'm not sold on Shamsur.

Soumya came to the selectors’ thoughts after he smashed a double century against Qatar last year in June during the Under-19 Asia Cup in Malaysia.
Dekhum ne beta kemon Tamim re follow koros na.

BTW surprise inclusion. Was expecting Shabbir to get a call thou. Nayeem and Riyad to lose the match...
