Wright, Whatmore, BCB and BCCI love quadrangle
It's pretty much as I speculated in the other thread, John Wright is in the running to be India coach along with Dav Whatmore, yet Bangladesh is pursuing Wright as well, more on the Jogakhichuri in this article, open it in IE, you may have to install a font:

From CI:
India's search for new coach
Indian board satisfied with Whatmore meeting

The Indian board (BCCI) finally admitted that they discussed with Dav Whatmore his interest in coaching the Indian team. Niranjan Shah, the BCCI secretary, said he was "satisfied" with his "brief meeting" with Whatmore in Bangladesh and would report his feedback to the seven-member committee appointed to find a new coach for the team.
"I met with him yesterday. I will report the details to the committee," Shah, who returned from Bangladesh Sunday morning, told PTI. "I am satisfied with the meeting. It was a brief meeting, it lasted for five-ten minutes. Whatmore expressed his desire to coach India."
However, a senior board official told Cricinfo that too much shouldn't be read into the meeting. "The board hasn't shortlisted anybody. Whatmore met with Shah to express his interest but the decision on the next Indian coach will be taken only a week or two before the India team leaves for Ireland on June 20."
Shah, along with Sharad Pawar, the BCCI president, administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty and vice-president Rajeev Shukla were in Bangladesh on Saturday on an invitation from the Bangladesh board.
Both Shah and Pawar denied during their press briefing that the purpose of their visit was to have a discussion with Whatmore, who has emerged as a major contender for the post vacated by Greg Chappell. Asked about the turn of events, Shah said, "Whatmore wanted to meet me. I couldn't say no."
Shah had earlier said that the seven-member committee, which includes former captains Ravi Shastri, Srinivas Venkataraghavan and Sunil Gavaskar, would meet in Bangalore on June 4 and the new coach would be named four to five days later.

Man, I am surprised that a man of Whatmore's stature could be so desperate for a coaching job, it's a bit unbecoming.
Still, I hope he gets what he wants.

Paper round-up The Kolkata-based daily Telegraph is running a rather interesting item. Gossip. Ah! I see you getting really interested. "Somebody known to The Telegraph called Dav Whatmore around 7 pm on Saturday at the Peninsula Hotel. Without waiting for the caller to speak, Bangladesh's outgoing coach chirpily said "hello Niranjan..." He'd assumed the caller was Niranjan Shah, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary!" Whatmore quickly recovered, but let the proverbial cat out of the bag, strongly indicating that a line of communication had been established between him and the BCCI."

Cricinfo Scorecard, thats a clever joke just let DW sit in the other dressing room now thats where he wants to go.

This is a real shame that Dav is getting so desperate, especially since he has served Bangladesh so well. It would have been nice if he kept his cool and took his time, or at least kept his intentions closer to his chest. The tragedy is that he will not be able to achieve the same levels of improvement in India that he has accomplished at BD, because that team is a political bee-hive and he simply will struggle to implement his methods there.

Looks like Whatmore wants this job more than anything in his life...
probably as his last coaching stint..
He wants to coach India..get bucket loads of money for that..
and then retire....

Stumped! don't take it to heart. This is an unfortunate situation in some respects. People will express their opinions and given the nature of messageboards some comments will come across as insensitive, irrational, bitter etc. Anyways, what really matters is whether any of this sideline action impacted the team...and I don't think that is the case. Dav is a thorough professional and he will give his 100% until the end of his contract, that I have no doubt.

4 years DW has hardly seen his family. His last break of 2 weeks was 5 months ago and he hardly ever takes a day off. Don't ever say he doesn't give a rats. In the face of lies, quotes twisted and taken out of context, hounding for interviews etc he remains quiet...that's professional. Always been the case whoever gets him as coach is blessed. Take a leaf from what he teaches...concentrate on the positives..negatives only attract bad energy and you never win that way, not in anything. DW has a great affection and respect for Bangladesh.

point taken bro... i just think he could've been a bit more discrete about landing the indian job... and a bit more proactive in team selection.

Sohel my freind,
thats not "bro"...
in case u r not aware of it...
Stumped is Dav's daughter. She has been a member of this forum since last year and has given us some insight from our coach's perspective.
Stumped,
I know our comments and opinion might have heart your feelings at times. But at the same time, you have to understand that we are mostly crazy fans here.
There are high's and low's at any relation. Same with this one.
We had a relationship with Dav ( ...nothing sinister i guarantee) and now at this parting times, things are being said which not truely meant.
For what he has done for our cricket over the past 4 years, we understand and appreciate that. We value his contribution to our cricket. And probably like many, would have loved to see him goin on with the job.
But i guess there is an ending to everything. He might not feel the same passion about "this" job after all these years and might need to move on to a new challenge. Fair and square.
I hope even after Dav's departure from our team, you would take some time to visit our forum every now and then. We would still like to be connected with our beloved coach and we certainly like you having here among us.
See you around.
