Default Eng 44/6, 23 ov

We took a grand total of 9 wickets in 3 ODIs and SriLanka aready took 6 for only 44 and they have much more to play for.

*sigh*

We are not the Lankan and that pitch is known to be a bowler's paradise. The weather is wet too.

At dinner break, the Lankan stands tall at 26/0 after 5 overs.

England were shot down by Sri Lanka for 88, the equal second-lowest score in their 386-match one-day history.
Vaughan's face looks familiar, perhaps he learnt the art of sadness from Shujon.

Who wants to be on the pitch standing with a bat whole day when you have treats back in the pavillion.

Default Eng 88 all out & SL 89/0

What do you reckon? I think that if we had let England bat first in 1 of our 3 ODIs, then probably we could have restricted them to a 250 total in 50 overs?

Ofcourse, getting to 200 (notice 200, not 250) in day-nighters on Dhaka pitch with all the due around would have been a very big task to ask (not that we reached 200 while batting first winning the toss), so we would have lost anyway.

But the whole situation gives us a clue of what might have happened.

Default England thrashed by Sri Lanka

After the whitewash against Bangladesh, England was thrashed by Sri Lanka today. This shows how weak the BD team is at the moment....

Score:
England
88 all out (46.1 overs)
Sri Lanka
89 for 0 (13.5 overs)

I have my suspicions about Dambulla pitch. So let's see how Colombo goes. England will reverse their fortune there.

OMG... just checked the scorecard... that did hurt... and English team didnt even get a wicket... Jaywasuriya and kalu rampaged

Oh yeah... Sri Lanka is the second team I support... Goooooo SL...

But it feels bad when u compare it to BD series... Is Bangladesh sooooo bad? Its terrible... The pitch seemed ok... The English batsman sucked... cause it seems the Sri lankan Batsmen and bowlers faired well in the middle... well played Srilanka...

Thereafter it was damage limitation, and those who last week had moaned about Bangladesh's pedestrian scoring and goal of simply batting out the full allocation of overs were made to swallow their words.
Lovely....

Feels good to see England lose though. Sri Lanka is amazing. Always good to see a subcontinent side doing well. Too bad India lost to Australia.

If there is any consolation from this defeat it is the fact that they are unlikely to play this poorly again in Sri Lanka.
The batsmen also did'nt think much of Muttiah Muralitharanl. Although the spinner was very economical he failed to get a wicket. They only have the other four bowlers to worry about now.
For the record England are not novices in scoring outrageously low scores in ODI.
