Should it be Sakib?
Hey guys,
It's just my opinion but I know it makes sence to me and to a lot of other people. Most of the time when i watch a Bangladesh match, when they bat, (most of the time) sakib is out on the crease in the first 5 overs.
What I think is best for the team is that he should open with tamim because I have seen in many matches where Tamim is on the crease loosing partners. So if Sakib comes to open with Tamim, he can play his natural game and he is also so good at rotating the strike. And we all know how TAmim likes to hit the bounderies. And if am not wrong, when ashraful comes to bat he will have a lighter job on his shoulder...
anyways thats my opinion, what do you guys think?

Maybe, but I dont wanna ruin his confidence by shuffling him from a middle order batsman to opening batsman. A better option would be riayd or rakib IMHO.

No way sakib should be opener. I liked Mehrab in that position. We need someone to occupy the crease and rotate strike for tamim.

He could be the one we are looking for? Has patience and shot both.

Sakib.......OPEN? NO WAY!
I think he is a good middle order batsmen and he should stay where he is.

emm
well my point is that the way he keeps comming out in the first 5 over most of the time , he praticaly does the job of the openers and the middleorder...
all am trying to say is that if he is always there in the first 5 overs y not just start with him and get a stable begening and from there on the later bastmens can score as they wish which means less preasure and maybe ashraful will shine more often
nyways that my thoughts ... nothing personal ... anyways everyone have their opinion and i respect it

If you watch Shakib bat, it's clear that he doesn't have the skill to open. It's just not his spot. His technique is dreadful to say the least, and his footwork is also quite poor. He makes up for those deficiencies with quick hands and some good backfoot shots (shots which most of our players lack).
So no, Shakib should stay where he is.

No to 'gunipigging' with the performers. Let them/him perform where they are. Non performers can be fiddled with, that will give them a chance to find the right slot for them as well.

Spot on. Despite sakib's terrific run, we have to accept that sakib does not posses the best technique. but he covers up with his common sense(!). And sending him to open would result in many downturns
1. Shakib may lose his touch
2. BD will be back at finding makeshift openers. why do we have openers in cricket????
3. in a test, it is hard for a bowler to be an opening batsman. coz u mite just be bowling for 35 overs, and then in 10 mins u have to get to bat, dat aint pretty
4 and many others which im too lazy to think out

Is this a Shakib thread or Ashraful thread? All this shuffling just to accomodate an inconsistant so called batsman whose average is as best as an tail ender? What is your true intention?

Asking Sakib to open is like asking Ashraful to bowl before Mash.
Anyway, I just wonder why this idea never came to any one else's mind though?

When things are going well with Shakib, don't mess it up by moving him around.
What I am wondering is why the hell do we not want to give Mehrab an extended chance at the 2nd opening spot?? He did reasonably well in the ZIM series and I think he is worth a shot. Plus, he plays with POSITIVE INTENT. All of Tamim's recent partners have been lacking that.
Give Mehrab a chance!!!!!!!!!!
