MAD Shakib, Stupid RAKIB and surrenderring from a POTENTIAL WINNING POSITION to a HELPLESS LOSS
228/3 we started the day. i always felt if we can play the first hour well we can make something good in this game. i dreamed of rajib and ash making a partnership. then i thought that was too much. but my goodness the played not only 1 hour but for 90 minutes and then rajib was finally out. anyway u cant expect more from rajib. and within one run ASHRAFUL out. well it was a good ball. but it was a day when it looked like he was prepared to stay in the wicket and not play too many shots. good effort by ashraful.
so its 291/5 and 20 minutes to lunch. we have in crease SHAKIB- the captain and RAKIBUL- our long version cricket specialist.
this was the chance. i think this was the perfect chance for both of them to silence all the criticism that was made on them in recent days. ASH and SHAHADAT showed it was easy to bat on. 20 minutes to lunch and 20 runs deficit. these two should have looked to play the twenty minutes and go to lunch with 5 wickets in hand 5-10 run lead.
in the lunch break lets rethink the strategy. 10 runs lead. shakib and rakib batting, mushy and riyadh to come. 2 sessions to go and 3 sessions tomorrow. lets bat out the sessions today and lets not lose more than two wickets. end of the day we can gain 200 lead with 2-3 wickets in hand and 1-2 of shakib rakib mushy and riyadh batting. tomorrow morning we could have played another session on got a lead of 300 and let india chase 300 in 60 overs. well a potential winning position. MAN THIS WAS POSSIBLE< NOT UNREALISTIC. if shakib rakib riyadh and mushy apply themselves the have the ability to build this lead. BUT.........
SHAKIB- mad cricket. in fact maddest i have ever seen. looks like he wanted a lead of 500 rathen 200 at the end of the day.
RAKIB- played a stupid shot that let zaheer to eventually bowl an over that would have never happened if he simply blocked that ball.
RIYADH- well its not his duty to rescue everyday when the players above him (who actualy should play below him) performs these madness and stupidity everyday.
SHAFIUL- u cant expect him to do the shahadat
now MUSHY can only try that it doesn't take sehwack to whack only 1 ball to chase the runs.
it could have been different. it was a potential winning position when shahadat got out and rakib came in or even when shakib came in after ash was out. or we could have drawn the game. but now a helpless loss. the score card will look like
BD 233 allout and 312 allout, india 544-8 and 2/0, win by 10 wickets.
it will say BD poor batting 1st innings. then india scoring big score. BD bravely struggled to avoid innings defeat but lost by 10 wicket.
no body will ever know that that 312 actually consisted a 200 run partnership by two men JUNAED and TAMIM (who scored 150) and that led a good foundation. also SHAHADAT 40 0f 75 and ASH 25 of 68, had a good partnership that led the team only at 21 runs deficit and 7 wickets in hand from where the rest of the batsmen could have capitalized.
but SORRY TAMIM, SORRY JUNAED, SORRY SHAHADAT, SORRY ASH, ur efforts were .... and now everybody will say ZAHEER KHAN is a great bowler. Sorry everybody.

Winning position is a bit of over statement for me. But still match over by lunch - is unthinkable after the partnership of Shahadat and ASH. There is no explanation of this. May be, this is our potential. We just can have one man show to save our face.

It was a deadly Zaheer khan who finished Bangladesh. BD is a much better team than before but they donot realise that they are playing against a team that is top ranked team now (unlike 2000 or 2007). Still, huge scope for improvement on the batting side...consistency really.....
As an India, this was good series with many challenging sessions, in the end individuals delivered. On to beating to SAF now...:-)

The moment rokibul arrived things started to go wrong. He has such a strange body language that encourage bowlers and discourage his partner, he is only good against kenya. I suggested before, send him as a last batsman just to support rahim and mahmudullah. Some of us think he has a good technique to bat. To me his technique is like As*, everyone has one.

failed to understand why is raqibul playing...he does have a negative body language...he can't play shots, can't defend....picking raqibul to play is a negative mentality from management.

Surrendering from a good position is becoming (worryingly) so common in BD cricket, look athe PAK test in 03, then we had the Fatullah test against AUS, the ODI series against Sri Lanka ( which we could have won), a last over six against Zimba, series against NZ at home ( ithink we bowled them out for 150 in the decider match), then the Champ trophy match against INdia where we scored 286 and still lost, the ODI against IND in tri series recently etc etc etc etc..........
We seem to be bigger chokers then South Africa, soo disappointing

Bangladesh still has to learn how to hold their nerves and win matches. They cannot capitalize on good performances. I thought that they were improving, they have not crumbled like this for a while now, not since 2007. I feel that they need a sports psychologist for this team.
Fielding is bad, too many drop catches.

POTENTIAL WINNING POSITION?? Where did you see any chance to win? I was expecting a draw at best.
