Toying with the idea of selling my iPad and buying an iPad2 or Playbook. A friend works at RIM so I'll get discounted price for Playbook - is it worth it?

Neither the iPad nor the iPad2 come close to beating the Motorola Xoom in spec or performance. The rest of the tablets on the market though are yet to match Apple. Motorola and Google are planning to do with Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) on tablet the same they did to iPhone on smartphone market (The Droid series). The only issue with Xoom is it is still undergoing updates and is pricey. But by Fall I think price of tablets are going to subside quiet a bit and by next year they should be near the smartphone price range given LG and others are soon joining the game. IMHO better to wait a few months.

Good stuff. I'll test it out this weekend hopefully if I'm able to get my hand on it.

I felt compelled to quote myself here from another thread

Quote:
Honeycomb tablets are far better choice. Yes, they don't have a lot of native honeycomb apps at the moment, but they will be coming. I actually started liking HP WebOS 3.0. It looks pretty decent for what you want from a tablet. Blackberry Playbook is probably not too far behind from them. Apple needs to play the catching game here.

The only complain I have about Win 7 Slates is their battery life. Asus Eee Slate EP121 looked really nice and powerful, but only 3.5 hrs of battery life. I am looking forward to Motion Computing cl900. Yes, it has an atom processor but it will have 8-hr batter life.

Samsung Announces 'World's Thinnest' Tablets: Galaxy Tab 8.1 and 10.1

Quote:
Samsung announced two new Android 3.0 Galaxy Tab tablets Tuesday boasting both are the world's thinnest. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are 8.6mm thin (or 0.34-inches) which is about 0.2mm thinner than the Apple iPad 2.

Samsung introduced a Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the European market at Mobile World Congress, but the 10.1 model introduced Tuesday has different specifications and is slightly thinner. Samsung's new Galaxy Tabs blow the Motorola Xoom--the only shipping Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet to date-out of the water, 12.9mm thick (or 0.51-inches).

They will go on sale on Friday 17:00 P.M.

If you want to know anything about apple, check their website. We are never told anything about product launches. We get the info from their website.

And didn't get the chance to play with iPad 2 today.

Haha. Apple was pretty loud about their IPad2 being so slim, and light. Samsung now owns Apple!

This cannot be just Steve Jobs marketing, can it?

iPad 2 queues start 33 hours early as demand expected to beat supply

Quote:

The queues for the iPad 2 have begun, with the first arrival settling down outside Apple's flagship Regent Street store in London 33 hours ahead of its 5pm launch on Friday.

The first person in the line, Jules Lewis from London, was also in the queue for the launch of the original iPad last May. But he insisted that he is not buying it in order to sell it on eBay but will "keep it in the family".

Dunder-Mifflin Sabre has also introduced a new tablet called 'The Pyrammid'. It is uniquely Pyramid shaped.

Here is a screenshot from the presentation.

If you are in the Scranton area, drop by and get one before stocks run out. For those of you in the UK, 'The Pyramid' is also being sold by 'Wernham Hogg' in Slough.

LOL!! Thats funny! And who else but Dwight Schultz to be the sales pitch guy for such a product. Maybe he can use his former boss as a telemarketer for this.
