Hooper misses Bangladesh trip
West Indies captain Carl Hooper will miss the forthcoming tour to Bangladesh in order to undergo knee surgery.
He suffered the injury early on in the current tour to India and missed Tuesday's one-day international in Rajkot.
Hooper will fly to Australia at the conclusion of the seven-match series to undergo an operation with the aim of ensuring he is fit to attend a pre-World Cup training camp in January.
"Although the injury has been providing Hooper with ongoing discomfort and cause for concern, it has been successfully managed so far on tour," said team manager Ricky Skerritt.
"I've assured Hooper of the full support of the West Indies Cricket Board and told him that we all look forward to his complete recovery and return to the team."
Hooper's replacement as captain will be chosen when the selectors, headed by Test legend Sir Viv Richards, meet to pick the tour party next week.
Hooper's deputy Ridley Jacobs, who led the team in Rajkot, is an obvious candidate, but he is also the team's wicket-keeper.
If the selectors feel it is too much to ask him to do both jobs in Tests, they may seek an alternative like batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
West Indies will also travel to Bangaldesh without batting star Brian Lara, who has been out of action since being taken ill during the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka two months ago.
The tour begins later this month and West Indies will play three one-day internationals, followed by two Tests.
