Akram Khan Dance!
No, this isn't the famous Khan of Chittagong ![wink](images/smilies/wink.gif) ...He is an Englishman of Bangladeshi descent. I first saw Akram Khan at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2003. He performed his "Maa" production to a rapturous audience and left everyone gasping. If I say, I was absolutely blown away by the amazing mix- and I don't use the term loosely- of energetic movements, choreography and music it won't be an exaggeration to the slightest! I knew a star was born...

khan is a brilliant exponent of the kathak dance. a brilliant performer. have seen him at sadlers wells numerous times and his project with the french actress juliette binoche was breathtaking. there was a documentary about him and this impending production a few months ago on the bbc. he once commented that he would give up dance if his mother died. i wish her a very long life!

A very hearty welcome, bujhee besh bhai (BBB)!
I appreciate that you appreciate Akram Khan's genius. He is certainly one of a kind- a pioneer! The brilliance lies in his artistic fusing of tradition with modernity...effortless inter-mingling of cultures, religions and languages. Not to mention his complete mastery over Kathak and contemporary dance.
Akram, indeed, is a master architect and a bridge builder of the highest order.
