Default ashraful will most probably open with nafees

With his dismal performance in recent matches (zim, Ken, practice), where do you think Ash fits? I supported him as opener because otherwise I wanted him out of the team. Now that I see he even sucks more as an opener, I want to give him some well deserved rest!

I don't find any place in the middle order. 3 - Aftab, 4 - Sakib, 5 - Bashar, 6 - Reza.
For one opening slot we have Ash, Rajin, Mehrab. Insetad of picking him in the opening slot, I would prefer him to give a break. We carried underperformer for long time due to the lack of well suited alternative. Now we have better alternatives (though Mehrab is not tested in national side but I belive he will be equally good as his fellows, Sakib and Reza), why should we carry any burden.

Matin rey niya khub dush-chintay porlam. Kon jaygay fit kora jay moitta chora rey? I don't think Matin should be in the squad if he fails in opening in one more match. If he fails in the first match against SL, enough is enough, call Rajin or Mehrab. Give him a break.

Don't get impatient. Ash will eventually perform in Champions trophy. He is a batsman of big tournamenst and quality oppositions. Don't write him off so early.

Have a little more patience.

Yeah, aware that you are very pationate about Matin. And of course one has to agree that once he performs, we have all chances of winning a game. But what makes us worried is the consistency. Also is not it injustice to other players who should get a go?

Any way, I wish in heart and soul that Matin returns with his all big guns agains SL on 7th and, I am sure, so do most of others in this forum.

Ash is a problem. We cannot afford to keep him out of the team, we cannot afford to keep him in the team with this form. I'll keep him at #4 for a while more and let him know, you are there to score runs, not to show your pretty face.

Ash for Open Only.
Would like to agree with Miraz Bhai and trying to be patient with him.
Like many of us, i believe he can perform against the big boys in the qualifiers and might, for some time, keep his critics at bay.

Looking forward for a big innings from him in one of the first two matches in the CT.

Me too. By the way, does anyone know if there is really a player named Ashraful Matin?

Ash for opener, at least he can't be any worse than Rajin. It's not possible for him to score a big inning from lower down the order and whatever puny score he makes he's not consistent in doing so either. So if he's gonna continue playing he might well open the inning, play some shots and if he can settle down he might score big.

Now about the poll. Where is #7, #8, #9 slot?

With his current form its better for both, him and the team, to start him at #7 or #8. If Mehrab clicks, which has a better probability of success, I don't see any opening slot for Ash in the first 6 slots. I think the team management should suggest him to concentrate on his bowling instead. That may be the only way he can extend his career in the national team, that is a bowling alrounder in #7/#8 slots.

With his current form, I wonder why people suggest that just moving him from #5/#6 to #2 will solve his batting problem. Opening slot is more pressurized and specialized position than #5/#6 slots, I don't know how people fail to realize that. You just don't send a out of form #5/#6 batsman to opening slot and expect for a good result. Its just desperate attempts by desperate people.

It reminds me of some Bangladeshi parents who thinks sending their out of control sons in USA will solve all their parenting issues.

Exactly! As we can see now a days he is not taking the responsibility of building the innings he better open the batting in next few matches. Let him do whatever he wants to do there, if he fails then kick him out and try other potential openers.
