Default Siddons on Ashraful: "If it were anyone else he wouldn't be in the side"

Gazi mia chetsey. He doesn't appreciate this comment by Siddons.

While I see the point he is trying to make, I don't fully blame Siddons for a comment like this. He's struck by the sheer mental incapability of Ashraful for valid reasons. Over and over and over again he probably went over the basics with Ashraful, with ZERO result. If he's saying this out of frustration, I'm fully with him. To make it better, he should have pointed out the problems with other players too. But Ashraful is definitely ahead of the game.

Board to review Siddons remarks on Ashraful

Coach Jamie Siddons role has come under scrutiny after his comments on Mohammad Ashraful's captaincy during the tour to Australia © Tigercricket.com

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to review the team's dismal showing in Australia, where they were routed 3-0 in the ODI series, with the coaching staff and players likely to come under the scanner.

The board is also expected to examine Jamie Siddons' role as the head coach and seek an explanation over his comments on Mohammad Ashraful's captaincy during the tour. Siddons was earlier quoted as saying: "It's disappointing for Ashraful, being the leader of the team. If it were anyone else he wouldn't be in the side."

Gazi Ashraf Hossain, the chairman of the BCB cricket operations committee, said the board would first verify what Siddons had actually said. "But the fact remains that a coach should not talk publicly like that, because he can only give a recommendation to the board," Hossain told the Dhaka-based Daily Star. "It is indecent and his comments may have increased the pressure on the captain."

Khela jomse. Miraz will be happy. Is it the inside link that's working here?

When you're at the international level, you don't start from scratch. You pick it up from some point. And that's what Siddons hasn't found.

This guy comes here after coaching the best team in the world. And this is not the level of cricket that he has ever touched. So I don't see why he should not have this reaction.

Bouncer awaits Siddons
Bishwajit Roy

The Tigers' dismal show in Australia has served as a wake-up call to Bangladesh's cricket authorities as they are all set to probe the coaching staff, along with the players.

In particular the activities of coach Jamie Siddons, who has taken the helm of the Tigers in November last year, will be brought under the microscope. The board will not only examine his role as the head coach but also ask to explain his comments on captaincy during the tour.
...

He also hinted that the board would challenge Siddons's stance on Bangladesh cricket as the Australian has time and again said that it is the 'infrastructure' which should be blamed for the poor showing.

And the 43-year-old former assistant coach of Australia believes that there is hardly any standard left for him to follow.

"I think we had some good wins to feel proud of, and we were definitely at a certain level.

"The problem was that we haven't had dependable batsmen in the top-order and that was the reason we appointed a man who has good knowledge in batting as the head coach. But unfortunately the batting standard has gone down," observed Ashraf while reflecting on the Tigers' pathetic batting display in the last eight months under the tutelage of Siddons.

"It was expected that the performance graph would improve but it didn't happen, so we can't accept it. I think it's about time the board should reassess the whole situation and take a tough decision even if my role is questioned," he [Gazi] added.

He seems like he don't know how to build an innings. How to play with a partner. Selfish player!! Doesn't know what the team wants and needs are. After 100+ games in an entire series if someone shows this type of game, how can he stay in the team, let alone a captain? 4 ball tai martey gasi, what the.. tin match'a tho ektao 4 martey parey nai. Australia emni emni 3 ta slip, point fielder raikhey off-er bairey ball korey ore jonno? Maro, maro 4 maro. Ajob dunia.

Even in our local league cricket, we take note of these. It's unfortunate that Ashraful, after playing 100+ international games, is still falling into such traps.

Simply unfortunate.

Siddons said things thats true but unethical to say out in public.

BCB is following the Football path, bad management will soon get our test status revoked.

I blame the selectors and management more than I blame the players, and finally Siddons.
