25-27 Oct 2002 - BAN vs SA - 2nd Test
Heres what I see coming up:
BD wins toss, and decides to bat.
Players to watch out: Rokon and Sumon.
Hopefully I will have some good comments to make in this thread after the game starts.

Golla and Rafique out
Rafiqul and Hannan in. Gosh Rafiqul plays a test and a one-dayer while Mazhural and Ehsanul Haque can't do that

<^RSA-Bdesh> 11.3 Ntini to Hannan Sarkar, no run, down middle, bouncer, batsman tries to get out of the way but he's hit on the vizer, batsman is down
<^RSA-Bdesh> Batsman is getting some attention, looks like he'll retire hurt
<^RSA-Bdesh> Sarkar is ready to bat again after the cut on his chin
<^RSA-Bdesh> 11.4 Ntini to Hannan Sarkar, bye: FOUR, kepper misses the ball, it races to the fine leg boundary
-----------
Shala Ntini-r pachay lathi. Perfect answer from Hannan Sarkar. 52/0

Basher needs 39 runs more. Can he do it?
BD is batting at high run rate RR: 4.97, Bangladesh 106/1 (21.2 ov)
I am leaving for now.

I am so excited! Nice relief (may be momentary) after so much battering in the past few months.

partnerships
couple of solid partnerships. this second wicket one is tied for highest against SA (66) and could be among top 10 bD partnerships if they get 10 more. wisely slowing it down before lunch. the one day approach was getting scary.

and the procession continues...

Bashar gone... I am beginning to feel SA rigged our lunch....
3 wickets for 4 runs....all that hard work ...140-4....from 140-1?!?!?!? This is tragic...

Only we can go from 136 for 1 to 140 for 4. I better go to bed before depression hits. I guess its time for Tushar and Rafiqul to show some mettle.

Cricinfo claims that Mashud is batting with Talha Jubair as our 5 and 6. Is this a joke?

Okay, not it says Khaled Mashud and Rafiqul Islam. I still don't get why Mashud would come in at 5 ahead of both Rafiqul and Tushar. Its possible but strange.

well...
probably to stem the rot... Knowing Tushar's temperament...he would have prolly joined the procession to the pavilion...Pilot is THE WALL.......He invariably ties up one end...come hail or thunder or ntini....

smile
amidst the falling wickets, kapali just pushed the score past 200.
Smile, people. A couple of weeks ago, you would have been delirious at the thought of scoring 200 against SA on their wickets.

over rate
SA has to bowl 22+ overs after the last drink break. did something weird happen?
I'll start the post-innings (with 9 wickets down, it's pretty much over) finger pointing. Rafiqul and Tushar add no value to the test team.
Rafiqul has his supporters on this board, but there are other young batsmen (and definitely old) who are better than him and could be groomed.
As for tushar, what is wrong with using him for one days only? they do that with sujon, so it would not be the first time.

Poor kapali, he was surely in the mood. But couldnt find a partner. He was trying real hard to hold on the strike, bad luck.
He should bat before Tushar in the 2nd innings. Tushar is no good in SA tests.
