Smile Match Thread: 1st ODI|Bangladeshv Windies|Mirpur|DEC 9th, 2018|D/N|13:00 Local Time|2:00 EST

Welcome,

Versus

A new series, with two totally different teams: one established af; while the other one is dire, hapless, and in need of some sort of direction.

One team has a captain who is the best they ever had, while the other has a captain, who have never captain a game in his life.

But there is cricket to be played...

On paper, Bangladesh's looks deadly. Almost every guy knows their role. They have had runs and wickets to back up their form in the recent past. Up to a point where fans were almost, to borrow a line from Donald Trump, "'We’re going to win so much, you’re going to be so sick and tired of winning'".

So here is my Windies team that I want to play:

1. Chanderpaul Hemraj
2. Shai Hope (wk)
3. Darren Bravo
4. Marlon Samuels
5. Shimron Hetmyer
6. Rovman Powell (c)
7. Carlos Brathwaite
8. Keemo Paul
9. Devendra Bishoo
10. Kemar Roach
11. Oshane Thomas

And the Bangladesh team:

1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Imrul Kayes
3. Soumya Sarkar
4. Shakib Al Hasan
5. Mushfiqur Rahim (wk)
6. Mahmudullah
7 Mehedi Hasan Miraz
8 Mashrafe Mortaza (c)
9. Abu Hider Rony
10. Mustafizur Rahman
11. Rubel Hossain

If Windies win this, it will be a miracle.

All the best

It will be lopsided.

If BD bats first, tamim and Imrul will bat for the first 30 overs.

Tamim will make at least 175.

In turn, we will be bowled out for less than 140

I would advise WI to field Roach and Thomas and get some early breakthroughs, and have the self belief that they can collpase Bd anytime, because Bd are still collapse prone.

From the batting side of things, I would advise every WI top order batsman to man up, and not let a youngin like Shimron outshine them, and a slugger like Powell save them with power shots in the end. Learn to take responsibility.

Like to see bd bat first due or no due.....Bd has more chance with no pressure game ...
Tamim
Liton
Somaya
Sakib
Musfiq
Kaye’s
Riad
Miraz
Saifuddin
Mashrafe
Mustafiz
This will be killing squad....
Kaye’s can play as a low order to hold it together, because we will need it in World Cup ..
Mithun can play here there
Apu will play spot of Miraz when other team has too much right handed
Roni can play while mustafiz will sleep match or 2

Formidable and in form top 4. Followed by Mushy-Shakib-Mahmudullah. This is a serious line up.

wow they took all the 4 openers. Shakibs inclusion makes our selection so much easier. they gone with all proven and experience selection.. wish we batted first to see how much we can pile on with this line up.

Me, Rinat and Alfie had the same line up, except we had Mithun instead of Liton. I personally feel Liton is more suited to T20s, and should be developed as such. Mithun deserved a run with his dogged performances.

4 openers is just hilarious.I am guessing Tamim and Liton will open. But at least Kayes can really try to bag the no. 3 spot for himself if he applies himself, as he can score in other positions too as he showed with his match saving knock in Asia cup. But what about Soumya? Liton opening instead of him? That's gotta scar him.

^^ Shanto is Playing in the ACC emerging Asia cup. Incidentally, he is also struggling there, but have shown signs of regaining form. So a good move by the selectors in this case.

Mithun should have been in in place of someone I don't know why but he can stable the wickets in case we fall quickly

he is playing with their psyche from test cricket. Not because of pitch. Restricts run in restricted field as they gonna be watchful- it's mental i feel.
