Samosas banned in Somalia because......
...their shape may resemble the trinity...
i dont whether to laugh or cry.....
Also hundreds of thousands of Somalis are starving and the extremists are not allowign aid agencies in their territory. It may sound cliched, but it saddens me that i see tonnes of food wasted every week, and yet so many people are starving....
A powerful Muslim extremist group in Somalia banned samosas in the country because their three sides may remind people of the Christian Holy Trinity.
Members of Al-Shabaab recently boarded trucks with loudspeakers and announced that the popular pastries are banned in the country, UPI reported. The group did not fully explain its decision to ban the snack that is often filled with minced meats and vegetables, but witnesses told a local paper that their ubiquitous three-cornered shape may invoke thoughts on the Holy Trinity, according to the report.
The Islamic militant group, which controls wide swaths of the country, bans music and watching sports on TV.
The ban comes at a time where 800,000 children could die in a famine that reaches across the Horn of Africa. Aid workers are rushing to bring help to dangerous and previously unreached regions of drought-ravaged Somalia.
The United Nations estimates that more 11 million people in East Africa are affected by the drought, with 3.7 million in Somalia among the worst-hit because of the ongoing civil war in the country.
Somalia's prolonged drought became a famine in part because neither the Somali government nor many aid agencies can fully operate in areas controlled by al-Qaida-linked militants, and the U.N. is set to declare all of southern Somalia a famine zone as of Aug. 1.

Well everything is Zionist propaganda to some people At this point i am inclined to believe the reports are true as the Somali "Al Shabab" group are morons who have even claimed the famine is not happening and is a propaganda by the West

Why on earth would a hungry, no a starving person care for the shape of one's food? They're not really the people known for their great morals, so why do they care about Zionism?

People cant have bath, proper sanitation yet busy thinking the shape of samosa would purify their holly spirit?! What a shame! Muslim is the only tag these fanatics can wear on in their lifetime to feel good and their existence. And the average people? always become hostage, have to suffer, and pay the price since human being born on this planet [time to time].

Does anyone know of muslims are really forbidden to eat stuff shaped like the trinity or other shapes?
I think muslims are forbidden from pork and alcohol...i.e. a cold beer with a pepperoni pizza will put you in serious trouble after you are dead, but not aware of any restrictions on food shapes as well.

Yes I am serious. There are several mention that prohibits intoxicants as well as multiple hadith banning alcohol. So as far as I know it is therefore strictly forbidden. (although I hear stories that it will be readily available, may be physically or spiritually or some other form if you go to heaven).
As for the trinity shaped samosa, I can't still figure out why it should be prohibited.
I know trinity is not cool in Islam and you are doomed if you believe in it
http://www.islamic-awareness.org/Qur...seer/5-73.html
but I still do not see any explicit verse or hadith that prohibits that we eat something shaped like trinity. 'Maybe' we should not eat something shaped like something that muslims should not believe in what it symbolizes, but still not clear if that is the case here.

Of course there is nothing wrong in eating Samosas, at all
Dont bring "maybes" in cases when Islam is crystal clear.

Agreed....but I wasn't sure hence I put the maybe in quotes and posed the question.
Anyways can you please state the source as to where you found that there is nothing wrong in eating Samosas. I am not playing devil's advocate here and although it may be not a serious issue but there has to be some reference from which this so called islamic group in somalia is drawing the reference from or 'may be' misrepresenting it.
On the other hand since you said ofcourse nothing is wrong in eating a food shaped like trinity, please mention how you are sure about this.
