Zimbabwe\'s Youngsters
Despite going down to Bangladesh in the first test, some youngsters have raised a few eyebrows here in Dhaka. Elton Chigambura seems to have the potential to become a quality all rounder. But i was impressed most with Brendan Taylor. For an 18 year old this guy has dogged determination. His hitting is also very elegant and clean. Has a lot of potential.
As for Matsikinyeri, and Masakadza we know how good they are.
Mpofu and Cremmer are other players who seem to be players with lot of potential.

Forgeting Taibu? I think the whole Zim team revolves around him in most if not all aspect. He is a class by himself.

This Zimbabwe team has no shortage of quality! They just need more experience. IF this unit stays together for a year or two they will come into their own.

This Zimbabwe team is improving with every match. The players of this team are like raw gems, who will shine bright with a bit of polishing.

I think Zim can learn alot from Bangladesh but the lack of supply of criketrs won't help but then again it will help force consistency of selction.

Vermulen, Ebrahim, Tabiu and Chigumbura(who scored 77 against the Aussies) are the only known playing batsman in the team

I am just amazed at Taylor. I mean we praise and hope for success from Ashraful and Masakadza and here is another bloke two years younger and with the maturity way beyond his years. I think this guy will become a great asset for Zimbabwe, hope they can hold on to him.

Chigumbura is no surprise. He has been playing well against tougher teams since ICC Champions Trophy 2004. In one match of that tournament, he was judged man of the match for his allround performance though his team lost that match.

IMO, Taibu and Chigumbura are real top class player of the current Zimbabwe team.
Taylor and Masakadza are good, too. Matsikenyeri is their "Ashraful", has potential but very inconsistent player.

Panyangara is a very good cricketer too. Reminds me of Martin Suji of Kenya. Doesnt have much pace, but gives nothing away. The guy is very clever, i was very impressed with the delivery he bowled to get rid of Aftab. If only Bangladesh had a tight bowler like him, would have been great support for Mashrafee. Tapash bowls too many loose deliveries!

Wow, started this thread 8 years ago. See where Brendan Taylor has climbed. He just showed he is a class above all our players.
Its not that our batsmen are less talented. Its just the application. Zimbabwe doesnt have a superb first class structure. Rather Taylors efforts are result of his concentration, determination, decision making and positive mindset. Wish we had a Taylor in our lineup.

Ditto.
I'm impressed by their seamers. Jarvis is pacy and smart with a great future ahead of him. I feel he'll be the next Heath Streak for Zimbabwe. Meth can swing the ball early and both ways, and under the right conditions, will be more than a handful for any opposition. Masakadza is aggressive and accurate and will only get better with time. Chigumbura is not in the best of forms yet but will come back strong. Then there's Vitori in the wings. Add Cremer into the mix and you have a more than decent wicket taking attack with a promising future.
Batting-wise, Sibanda has been a disappointment. I doubt he'll evolve into the classy opener we had hoped he'd begin to be by now. Taylor's a keeper as is Hamilton Mazakadza, but they need better stability up top. Their tail is strong enough.

Do you guys think its good for us to give Zimbabwean players a chance in BPL? Taylor is a quality player but a lot of confidence has come from facing these bowlers in BPL. He is very familiar, very comfortable. Now i know our franchise owners dont give a ****, but the more these guys play against us the more comfortable they will be, and the more they will beat us in international cricket where it matters.
