Papon wants Shakib to do the operation on his finger AFTER Asia cup

This decision is definitely not the Board President's to make. There are physicians and other professionals who can give better insight regarding the matter. Besides, why would Shakib play if he cannot give his hundred percent?

Shakib knows his situation better than anybody. If he wants to get the operation done now, so be it

Considering all that, It's amazing how he has been playing IPL, Nidahas Trophy(Almost won that), West Indies series. Simply Amazing! not only playing, but playing at a very high level...

It's the pinky. He can grip the ball and bowl but has pain. Batting becomes a problem. He took pain killer shots before the last two games.
Asia Cup has a significant challenge without him. 80-90% Shakib is better than 200% (100% batting and 100% bowling by two) of the replacement. We lose one game and may not make it to the second stage. A lot is riding on this cup as well. Whereas, Zim series, we can afford to sit him.
I don't think Papon is out of line since the rehab may take 3 weeks or more.

This is a decision that should only be made by a physician and Shakib.
Shakib's LOI bowling is good, but we have an endless supply of SLAs who can bowl 10-1-45-2 type spells. Sanjamul, Ranjamul, Fanjamul can all do that.
We will miss his batting, but on a flat track hopefully Tamim, Mushy, Riyad can see us through. We beat NZ without Tamim and Mash in 2010 and WI without Shakib in 2012. Team is even stronger now. We can win in ODIs without one or even 2 of our lead players.
We dont' need him for the series against ZIM or WI. But we need a fit Shakib for the WC.

If I am paying the bill I get to choose when, where, how, as long as the un-comfort DOES NOT lead to other issues. If it was as big of issue then why did he play WI series? Better yet, why did the Physician let him play that series?

He played because he thought he could manage it but he felt uncomfortable while batting. Of course, he didn't want to withdraw himself mid-series that too as a captain.

Sunzamul Islam is Shakib's replacement if he gets injured. He is also a left arm spin all-rounder. Fazle Mahmud can also put a case for himself to be included as he himself is an allrounder who bowls legbreak and since we are looking for a wrist spinner. Although the last game for Bangladesh A against Ireland will tell a bit more about him. As for batting, we might want to push up Mossadek to No.3 and allow him to showcase his batting a bit more.

This is between Shakib and his physician as al Furqaan said. Does not matter what Papon wants.

Am I reading this right? he picked up the injury back in January? Why didnt they have surgery right after? Now we are going into Asia cup with a less than 100% shakib needlessly.

There was an interview few days back where the Bangladesh team doctor said it is not an urgent operation and can be done when he wants , it's shakib's decision to do the operation before Asia cup.
I wonder if the decision has something to do with the criticism he received from all fans regarding his behavior

Shakib just wants more holidays to skip training and Papon is just catching him out
Jokes apart, I think this should be left to the doctors.

According to news reports he had the injury at the beginning of the year I think so he has had the better part of the year to think of this operation, not the ideal time to go AWOL when Asia Cup is our biggest series of the year

Honestly I don’t mind, if he really needs it, get it done. better to do it now and have plenty of time to rehab and get back in form for the WC.
On the other side of things, he did this with the South Africa tour as well, totally different circumstances, but he skipped out on a major tour, and he’d be skipping a major tournament here.
From my perspective though, if it needs doing the sooner it’s don the better because of the upcoming WC. It gives BD a chance to give experience to its back ups or to try out some new players to see if they fit into the WC plan.

Papon talked to Shakib in Madina. Shakib agreed that he'll delay and postpone the surgery after the Asia cup. He left for USA for a week. Will join the team in UAE (May be Sept 6).

It's NOT physician's decision.
It's NOT board's decision.
It's NOT members' decision.
It's Shakib's.
Are we sh*****ing ourselves?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's the hell's WRONG with you people?
Go and tell some feminist "Gee Ima guy who has NO authority whatsoever over you body and the abuse you suffered lemme make that DECISION for you if you should abort your baby" and see how they react.
The case or severity of his injury - be it niggle- is a MOOT issue. It has nothing to do with it.
Period.
Just because some of you are spiritually, physically, intellectually, professionally, financially miles and head above them doesn't give you ex cathedra right to make decision for others.
Eta to dekhi pura dome slavery dekhi.
You don't control them.
It's odious.
It's offensive.
It's obnoxious.
And this is not an ATTACK on a single member, but an ATTACK on EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU.
Come' at me bro. I will take on ALL of you.
I am tempting you.
Agent provocateur.
