I would rather have chosen Raquibul instead of Aftab.

Same with me. I am a long time supporter of Aftab who just gave up on him due to his Ash-like, Sakib-like, recklessness.
Maybe he can redeem himself this time. I couldn't give a monkey about his S/R as many people here seems to be obsessed about. But how he approaches his innings, particularly the first six overs.
I am also a supporter of Rakibul particularly his compactness. But like everyone else, he needs to score runs to stay in the side. Only Ashraful is above that rule !
Rakibul will be back. I would be interested in the batting line up !

Aftab Ahmed for Test? If he plays I wish him all the success.
I hope that rush of Blood don't come to him. Plays naturally with minimum risk.

As for Mgmt, what are they thinking? Are those two observers accompanying the team, are they medling with the team combination? Where is Naeem?

Question to all:
Why only Aftab Ahmed getting priority/more chances though not yet performing that much after coming back from ICL scandal? why not Shahreer Nafees/Others (specially Naeem)?

Why they didn't choose NAEEM ? he is much better than Aftab and more importantly he could support Shakib with his spin bowling

anyway Aftab should bat at number 8 and bring mushy at 4/5 and Riyad at 6/7.

I wouldve chosen Naeem instead of Aftab..Raqibul wouldve been better than Aftab as well..Aftab shouldve been last resort..Naeem is a way better batsman who has proved himself in domestics..same with raqibul..Aftab in every statistical category is very weak..hes not averaging a 30 in any form of game..just a very poor decision to have him in..

Really surprised to see Aftab in the Test XI. I hope he will be able to use this opportunity to seal his place in the team.

Yeah right. He's going to score a quickfire 25-30, then going to score 2 boundaries in a row, then get out trying to go for the third one. They should've chosen a bowler instead of him. Its hard to bowl out sides with 4 bowlers.

You could use exactly the same words to describe Ashraful, Sakib and, dare I say, sometimes Tamim. However, TI has been more solid lately. But two 4s in a row, and things happen in his brain !

My goodness me! is this our test squad or T20 squad! I think the top six are too attacking/inconsistent/dangerous even by T20 standards. Even for someone like me--who recently started taking Junaed and Imrul more seriously--I wouldn't have selected both men for the same team. Same goes for Aftab and Ash...I think we're setting ourselves up for failure but good luck to the team...my gut feeling has betrayed me all series long and I hope it betrays me one more time and these guys fire on all cylinders to take us to 500+

I feel it is unfair to Aftab to expect him to play a big innings right now. He's not ready and team management threw him to the pit knowing that. He deserved better.

And so did SN. These players haven't played FC cricket in a while now and shouldn't have been thrust into Test cricket so early.
Oh well, let's hope for the best.

The only reason for picking Aftab over Nayeem may be:
Siddons did not want Nayeem to debut in Hamilton with a seam heavy attack against Martins/Southees. That would have set Nayeem's confidence down, so I guess that may be a reason. Otherwise i can't find any explanation

Nayeem already played 3 Test.(1 against NZ and 2 against SA)

Oops :P,
Sorry bro,he played 2 test, but i can't remember the last time he played tests, so probably just skipped my mind.
Then I can't find any explanation for this move.

Also I wouldve dropped Imrul as well and bring every1 up the order and have an extra full time specialist spinner..i understand imrul scored that century but thats a totally different format and that should not be considered for a test spot..he hasnt even hit a 50 in 10 tests so far..also playing only 4 bowlers is pretty risky..in tests u always need 5 bowlers to take wickets..part timers can get a maximum 1 or 2 wickets in a match..

would've preferred to see Naeem instead of Ash or Aftab. Wish the team the best and maybe Aftab can reinvent himself. Lets see.
Expecting something special from Ash, hopefully not a big 2nd innings when the game is already lost anyways, since we are way past due for an Eid. Plus it will be great for the Ash supporters to prove him better than Bradman via this one innings.

We cannot afford to be choosy about hundred scorers. It's not that we have many to choose from. In this team Tamim, Ashraful and Mushfiq are the only test ton scorers. In ODIs add Shakib and Imrul.
Therefore, any ton-maker is better than no ton-maker !

It will be interesting to see in which position Riad wl bat tomorrow. I reckon him to bat no5th or 6th position.
Batting order-
1.Tamim
2. IK
3. Junaed
4. Rahim
5. Ash
6. Riad
7. Shakib
8. Aftab

I would've preferred Naeem to Aftab. He would've been able to support Shakib with his spin and his bowling is more of a threat than Riyad's.
