Shakib, Mushfiq, and Mash on ESPN's World Fame 100
Didn't see this posted anywhere and thought it deserved a thread of its own. Shakib, Mushfiq & Mashrafe were ranked #90,#92 & #98 respectively on ESPN's annual list of the worlds most famous athletes (as measured by Google trends). There were 11 cricketers ranked overall, with the remaining 8 all being Indian cricketers. Pretty cool seeing them ranked among the likes of Gronkowski, Bryce Harper, etc.

Imagine if China didn't block Google and other site... we might see a Ying or Yang being number one...and 40% of the 100 being Chinese
I'm just being hyperbolic here.
Have a little fun

In the "About" section, they stated that they used Weibo social numbers for Chinese athletes. But fair point, I'm also pretty surprised not to see more Chinese athletes. I guess their culture doesn't idolize athletes as much as the subcontinent and west.

Pretty impressive that 3 BD players made it ahead of all non-Indian cricketers and dozens of NBA and NFL stars.

Mo Salah at #30 and the GOAT Tom Brady at #31
Raina at #22
Wtf?!
****ing Harbhajan is retired from international cricket and he is at #74
You'd expected selections like these when the population of a single country stands tall above the others in terms of population size.

LOL @ Yuvi and Raina being ahead of many of those big name athletes
The only cricketers in that list are Indians and us, how the **** did our players manage to leapfrog other more famous players

This is based on google searches from 2018, which explains why some of the names are there since they were propelled by some kinda event last year.
Derrick Rose (rape trial)
French footballers (world cup)
our boys (nidahas, naagin dance, asia cup)
meanwhile bryce harper, who is argubly the face of baseball right now, is number 99 because he's had a boring 2018.

weird to see that Mushy and Mash had higher endorsement earnings than Shakib. I dont think thats accurate.
Also Dhawan is the opener for the national team of the only sport his country of 1.3 billion cares about and he has less social following than Mushy? Either Dhawan's PR team should get fired or espn has gotten something wrong.

The fact that they only used Google to gather their is quite telling.
Maybe there is a substantial population of Indians that only uses Bing
**** the monopoly.

See #41. That is insane. I have no clue who he is. I bet there has to be a Chinese who is more renowned. he is more popular than Kaepernick/Golovkin/Pacquiao?

Wow, that is amazing. Credit goes to Awami League for creating such bright resplendent superstars of the country. My heart yearns for them. Inshallah, Bd will develop the hydrogen bomb in the next 5 years, complete the Meghna Bridge, and MAXIM top 100 will consist of 101 Bangla chicks.
